Truss Bridges
- Triangle components come together to form the framework of a truss.
- parts are attached to one another permits them to apply an axial force, either tension or compression.
- One type of structural construction element called a beam is used to transport loads that are forced down its axis
FORCE DISTRIBUTION IN TRUSS MEMBERS
Top Chord
These components are mostly subjected to compressive forces.
Bottom chord
These parts are typically in tension to counteract the compressive forces applied to the upper chord.
Diagonals
Triangles are created by joining the diagonal members to the top and bottom chords.
Diagonals cycle between tension and compression to strengthen the bridge and more evenly distribute loads.
Carbon Steel I beams
This design gives the beam its exceptional strength and load-bearing capacity. The horizontal flanges can sustain bending pressures, while the vertical web stabilizes the structure against shear loads.
Hollow Rectangular tubes
hollow beams can reduce total weight while maintaining structural strength
Cost Analysis of Materials
