INTROCUCTION

At the end of the 18th century an endemic global disease came, called smallpox disease.

people who had smallpox had fever and a progressive and distinctive skin rash.

Only in Europe over 400,000 people were killed per year, and even five kings were killed by the smallpox disease

For some reason the milkmades and the shepperdesses seem like the were immune

the smallpox disease is an infectious disease cased by the variola virus, it was very contagious

¡So with all these Edward Jenner started to investigate by the scientific method

- First step : observation

As I said in the last page Edward observated this so he started to investigate why the milkmades and the shepperdesses werent getting contagied , as you can see he already done the first step because he observated . So lets continue with the next step

Second step: Investigation

He started investigating and he found out that the milkmades got small blisters on their hands when they milked the cows, suffering the cow pox a mild disease ( which cased similar lessions as the smallpox). these made edward think that the smallpox and the cow pox were related and that that infecction might be enough to protect people. so these is the second step done.

THIRD STEP: HYPOTESIS

He´s hypotesis was that if he takes the cow pox , fresh smallpox from a patient and a human ginea pig , infecting a person with the cow pox and wait a couple of months then inyect smallpox then the person might not get infected . Third step done

FOURTH STEP: EXPERIMENTATION

For these step he chose his gardener´s son called James phipps, he had 8 years old, he continued with his hypotesis so he infected him with the cow pox and then couple of months after he infected him with the smallpox and finally he didn´t got infected, he continues trying this with other people and they weren´t getting it.

last step: conclusion

In conclusion he just discovered the vaccine that is a substance that the doctors inyect you for don´t get infect by the diseases.

Louis pasteur inspired by Jenners experiments showed that the microbes could be used to prevent humans of the diseases and he propoused the term vaccine in memory of Jenner.

in the 1840 Jacob Henley proposed that infectious diseases were caused by germs .

ANALYSIS

All these meant that Edward was right, for these analysis i´m gonna analyse everithing, at this stage we have that Edward investigated, got an hypotesis and then put it on pratice, after this we all know that he was right, as we can see everything is getting perfect so these is the analysis.
