Intro
Introduction
Cowboys appeared in America as a profession after the Civil War.The work of Cowboys was to drive cattle from Texas to the North and to the East. Since 1867, several cattle trails have been established, and 35,000 Cowboys were moving on the trails by the end of the 1800s. The long journey of Cowboys with their cattle on the desolate grasslands was difficult and dangerous. Cowboys have learned to be brave and independent, and they became the icon of American spirit. Cowboys and Old West was an important subject in Western Movies. The blue Jeans became a symbol of Cowboys.

COWBOY History
I. History of Cowboys
The Appearance of Cowboys
After the Civil War, Texas cattle farmers returned home to find that their cattle herds had grown tremendously. In the meantime, the East had a high demand of beef for the growth of population. But how to transport the cattle to the East from Texas? Joseph McCoy, a young cattle shipper had a solution: let Cowboys drive cattle north to meet up with railroads and load the cattle into railroad cars for the East.
In 1867, the first cattle trail, the Chisholm Trail, was established from Texas to Abilene. Since then six million cattle has been transported by Cowboys via this trail. Other trails were established later to take cattle to additional railroads for northern territories. About 35,000 Cowboys in total were moving on the trails in the following 20 years.

Cowboy films
Western movies: Cowboys as hero
Western movies were considered to be the films that have best embodied the American national spirit. They took the deserted American West as the background and the free Cowboys as the theme. In the films, the tough Cowboy was full of mystery, but he became a hero to help make justice.
Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)
Unforgiven (1992)
The good, the bad and the ugly (1966)
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
American shot
"American shot" or "Cowboy shot", imported from the french "plan américain", became a way of filming typical from Cowboy films. American shot starts down from knees because its main purpose is to show the gun of cowboys during fights.
The Lucky LUKe COMIC
Cowboys also inspired as you all probably already know the famous Lucky Luke comic. The Belgian cartoonist Morris created Lucky Luke and started working alone first in 1946, later he choose to team up with the French writer René Goscinny which is the one who made Astérix.
RED DEAD REDEMPTION
Taking place towards the end of the 1800s, Red Dead Redemption and RDR2's are two video games designed by Rockstar, the first game came out in 2004 and the second in 2018. This franchise is the reflection of the end of Cowboys Era. Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in 1899 and is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption. "America, 1899. The Wild West era is coming to an end as the authorities have decided to hunt down the last remaining gangs of outlaws. Those who do not surrender, or resist are killed.
Part IV
COWBOY Clothes
Typical Dressing of Cowboys
For a journey of several months with cattle in deserted area, Cowboys had to dress themselves in clothes protective and resistant: sweat-stained hats, loose sagging woolen shirts, long leather pants, and long leather boots. The pants of Cowboys were made of thick canvas. Later people called the pants "denim pants" or "Jeans".
The Hat
Cowboy hat has to be one of the most if not the most iconic part of the cowboy's attire.Hats were very useful for cowboy because it provides shade for the hot and sunny climates.
Denim Clothing:
Denim scarves, plaid shirts, and wide-brimmed hats are still active at the forefront of fashion today.
Jeans:
Jeans became popular by Western movies. In the last century, Jeans, which frequently appeared in movies, entered the lives of ordinary people. The moviestar Roy Rogers became the "King of Cowboys" with his blue Cowboy clothing.
Cowboy Boots
Cowboy boots were originally made for equitation and for the foot to be anchored in the stirrups. They were tall to protect their legs from hazards when riding horses. They also had high heel and were made originally from cow leather but sometimes with more exotic leather like alligator, buffalo or elk. Cowboy's boots were often worn by Mexicans who imported them from Spain and then it influenced cowboys.
