EDWARD JENNER:

Edward Jenner was an english doctor and scientist, discoverer of the smallpox vaccine, the world's first vaccine.

But to get this, he had to carry out a series of steps:

1. Observation

OBSERVATION:

  • At that time, many people died from smallpox, but the shepherdesses and milkers never got sick, but why? That's what Edward Jenner wanted to find out.

2. Investigation

INVESTIGATION:

· Edward Jenner was watching how these women worked, and he noticed that the milkers got tiny blisters on their hands when they milked cowss that had cowpox, which was a disease that animals had and was similar to smallpox, but why was this happening?

3. Hypothesis

HYPOTHESIS:

  • This made Edward Jenner think that perhaps the disease that cows had was related to what humans had, and that the infection caused by the disease in animals was enough to cure people of the deadly disease.

4. Experiment

EXPERIMENT:

  • Edward Jenner was confident in his idea and carried out the experiment. First he took a sample of cowpox from a milker and smallpox from a patient. He did this with his gardener's son, who was eight years old. First he gave him the cowpox sample and after a couple of months, he gave him the human smallpox, and the child did not get sick.

5. Anylisis

ANALYSIS:

  • Edward repeated this experiment with other patients, and the results were the same, so Jenner was right, and his experiment was totally true.

6. Conclusion

CONCLUSION:

  • In conclusion, you can see that Edward Jenner was right, and by taking a sample of cowpox (what is now a vaccine) you can help prevent people from getting sick. Thanks to this entire process, vaccines emerged.
