The Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) network will provide safe, more reliable travel options to help relieve congestion along I-64 in both directions. Chesapeake Segment

I-64 West Bowers Hill

If entering the Express Lanes just after the I-664/I-264 Bowers Hill Interchange, the following options are available to exit the Express Lanes: Before Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292)After Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289) After Indian River Road (exit 286) and before I-264 interchange (exit 284)Once in the Express Lanes, there are no exit locations before the High Rise Bridge, including no exit access to Military Highway (exit 297) and George Washington Highway (exit 296). Following the High Rise Bridge, there is no direct exit access to I-464/Route 168 (exit 291), Battlefield Boulevard (exit 290), Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289), and Indian River Road (exit 286). To access these local exits, you must exit the Express Lanes before Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292).

I-64 West Great Bridge Boulevard

If entering the Express Lanes before Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292), the following options are available to exit the Express Lanes: After Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289)After Indian River Road (exit 286) and before I-264 interchange (exit 284) Once in the Express Lanes at this location, there is no direct exit access to I-464/Route 17 (exit 291), Battlefield Boulevard (exit 290), and Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289). To access these local exits, you must exit the Express Lanes before Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292).

I-64 West Greenbrier Parkway

If entering the Express Lanes after Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289), the following option is available to exit the Express Lanes: After Indian River Road (exit 286) and before I-264 interchange (exit 284)

I-64 East Twin Bridges

If entering the Express Lanes at the Twin Bridges (just past the I-264 interchange), the following options are available to exit the Express Lanes: Before Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289) After Great Bridge Boulevard before the High Rise Bridge Before the I-664/I-264 Bowers Hill Interchange (exit 299) Once in the Express Lanes, there is no direct access to the interstate exits for Indian River Road (exit 286).

I-64 East Indian River Road

If entering the Express Lanes after Indian River Road (exit 286), the following options are available to exit the Express Lanes: After Great Bridge Boulevard before the High Rise Bridge Before the I-664/I-264 Bowers Hill Interchange (exit 299) Once in the Express Lanes at this location, there is no direct exit access to Battlefield Boulevard (exit 290), I-464/Route 17/Route 168 (exit 291). To access these local exits before the High Rise Bridge, you must exit the Express Lanes before Greenbrier Parkway (exit 289).

I-64 East Great Bridge Boulevard/High Rise Bridge

If entering the Express Lanes after Great Bridge Boulevard before the High Rise Bridge, the following option is available to exit the Express Lanes: Before the I-664/I-264 Bowers Hill Interchange (exit 299) Once in the Express Lanes at this location, there is no direct exit access to the George Washington Highway (exit 296) and Military Highway (exit 297). To access these local exits before the High Rise Bridge, you must exit the Express Lanes before Great Bridge Boulevard.

Norfolk Segments

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Additional Express Lanes in Norfolk are under construction and in design where three existing general purpose lanes and shoulders will be converted into a part-time shoulder Express Lane, running alongside the three existing general purpose lanes in each direction. HRBT Segment

The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project will widen 10 miles of I-64 from four lanes to eight lanes, including the construction of 2 Express Lanes and two general purpose lanes in each direction. CLICK HERE for construction information and traffic impacts.
