Heartstopper
Heartstopper, initially a webcomic, nowadays published as comic books, and also a serie (in Netflix), divided in 5 volumes, is a teen drama/romance of Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring as they meet and fall in love. The comics are an expanded adaption of Oseman’s 2015 Novel “Nick and Charlie”, even the characters appeared in her 2014 Novel “Solitaire”, by self-published since 2019. Heartstopper was written and also illustrated by Alice Oseman.
Alice Oseman
Alice May Oseman, born on 16 October 1994, is an English author of young adult-fiction. Her novels focus on contemporary teenage life in the United Kingdom and have been awarded several times, such as at the Inky Awards and the United By Pop Awards.
Heartstopper
Heartstopper, as well as others novels of Alice, pursuit for representativity, about sexuality, other ethnicities, talk to us about bullying, mental illnesses, mental disorders, trauma, and many more. For many teenage romance and cute scenes there are in heartstopper, there is also a side that we can relate to our real lives.
Reason of my choice
And that’s why I picked heartstopper to present to you. Because of the representativity of heartstopper, that talk about real problems, problems that are in the reality of many young people, problems that need to be discussed and presented for everyone. And the comics beyond entertainment and romance are a way to present to the young people that there's nothing wrong with them just because they are different. And that’s the message I wanted to convey with this presentation. If you are different, be proud, you’re not alone.
