RESOURCES

Click on the icons to see some examples
Synonym online dictionaries to better understand a concept without the need to translate
Websites designed to learn and review the language daily
Writing assistant that reviews your spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, engagement, and points out the mistakes suggesting possible better options

CHALLENGES

  • Understand the different accents in English, since there are many English speakers in the world with different cultures and each one pronounces differently
  • Pronunciation, Spanish is a language where everything is pronounced the same way it is written, but in English you have to know the grammatical rules to have a correct pronunciation
  • In English there are many homophonous words that are spelled differently but pronounced the same. You have to understand them from the context, but sometimes it can make you get lost in the conversation
  • Teachers who did not like teaching and sent us to do repetitive exercises to waste time without correcting or learning anything new

ACTIVITIES

Watching series or movies in English is the best way to adapt your ear to the language. First you can start by putting the subtitles in Spanish, then in English, until you can finally watch it without subtitles.
There are many online pages and applications to message real people and chat in the language you want to learn and thus practice with native people
The Internet is a place with infinite information, there are many pages where you can find activities of all levels and practice.
One of my favorite ways to practice English is through songs. Trying to find out what the meaning of the song is can be very fun as well as lucrative. There are pages with activities that you can complete by watching video clips
