and the relationship whit nature
And the relationship with nature
Early critics praised shakespeare as the poet of nature, as the natural world was his ispiration
Wheter it's comedy or tragedy, one of the dominant elements of Shakespearean theatre is definitely nature. Forests and mythological islands are the backdrop to its vast production. it is not, however, just simple scenography, nature partecipates and acts on the events of the characters, influencing their development.
Shakespeare's works where nature is very present:
- A midsummer night's dream
- The Tempest
About the work
About the work
The Tempest
The drama, set on an unspecified island in the Mediterranean, tells the story of the exiled Prospero, the true Duke of Milan, who plots to bring his daughter Miranda back to her rightful place, using illusions and magical manipulations. While his brother Antonio and his accomplice, the king of Naples Alonso, are sailing on the sea returning from Carthage , the magician invokes a storm that overturns the unharmed passengers on the island. Through magic and with the help of his servant Ariel, a spirit of the air, Prospero manages to reveal Antonio's low nature, redeem the king and make his daughter fall in love and marry the prince of Naples, Ferdinand. The narrative is entirely centered on the figure of Prospero, who, with his art, weaves plots with which he forces the other characters to move according to his will.

William Shakespeare,( 23 April 1564- 23 April 1616) was a playwright and English poet , considered the most important English writer and generally considered the most eminent playwright of Western culture.
Although the exact chronology of his works is still at the center of numerous debates, as is the authorship of some of them, it is possible to place with sufficient certainty the period of composition of most of his works in the approximately twenty-five years between 1588 and 1613. Capable of excelling in both tragedy and comedy , he was able to combine the popular taste of his era with a complex characterization of characters, refined poetics and notable philosophical depth.
Although he was already popular in life, he became immensely famous after his death and his works were praised and celebrated by numerous important figures in the following centuries. The scarcity of documents that have come down to us regarding his private life has given rise to numerous conjectures regarding his physical appearance, his sexuality, his religious beliefs and even the attribution of his works to him. An asteroid was named after him : 2985 Shakespeare.
