BENCH ART
Start
What's bench art?
Painting benches protects wood from rotting and decorates the most utilitarian objects found in parks and playgrounds, making them inviting to visitors. When volunteers work together to take on a once-graffitied bench, their artwork gives viewers the message that this is a special, public, kid-friendly and safe area for play, collaboration, meeting others, creativity, fun, and self-expression. Public art in neighborhoods transforms the places where memories are made from trash filled or abused to valued and loved! This is healing through art at its core, healing viewers and participants alike. There is inspiring team work involved in taking on a bench and completing it within 3-4 hours too.

In Friedrich's masterful "The Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog," a solitary figure, cloaked in introspection, stands resolute upon craggy heights. As mist weaves around him, the ethereal landscape unfolds, invoking a sense of mystery and yearning. The interplay of light and fog whispers of undiscovered realms, echoing the poignant beauty of the human spirit in it's quest for the sublime.
The Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog
We chose this famous phrase by Einstein combined with a school environment, because sometimes students, due to grades or teachers, can feel unsuitable or "failures" in general, while these results simply concern specific subjects, and each of us could have abilities and potential yet to be discovered.
