TY BUSINESS

Low life expectancy in Chad, as in any other country, has a series of consequences that affect the population and society in general. These are some of the possible consequences:

Chad is a country in Central Africa that, with its more than 15.4 million inhabitants, is one of the places in the world with the lowest life expectancy being just of 54 years average. Low life expectancy in Chad and other developing countries is often the result of a combination of complex factors. Here are some reasons ,that may contribute to low life expectancy in Chad.

Once one of the largest lakes in Africa, is in danger. The lake is shared by Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria. The surface of the lake has gone from 26,000 square kilometers in 1963 to less than 1,500 square kilometers nowadays .In the 1960s, the lake was home to around 135 species of fish and fishermen caught 200,000 metric tons of fish each year, providing an important source of food and income.Currently ,as the lake is disappearing, the lack of food continues to increase, causing thousands of people to die of hunger each year.

Infectious diseases

The prevalence of infectious diseases, such as hepatitis, malaria and other diseases, can be high in some regions of Chad. These diseases can have a significant impact on the health of the population and reduce life expectancy, and unlike in other countries, Covid-19 continues to affect the people of Chad on a daily basis.

INTRODUCTION

Chad, located in north-central Africa, is a diverse country with a rich cultural history and a population composed of diverse ethnic groups. It borders Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger. Its capital is N'Djamena.

Socio-economic factors, such as poverty, limited access to education and economic hardship, can also contribute to low life expectancy. These factors are interrelated and create an environment in which it is difficult for the population to maintain good health over time.

Food insecurity and malnutrition are persistent problems in Chad. Lack of access to nutritious food can negatively affect the health status of the population, especially among children. One in seven children die before their fifth birthday, according to the UN. In addition, , one of the world's largest sources of water and food, has lost more than 90% of its surface area in recent decades due to overuse of water, prolonged drought and the impacts of climate change.

Conflicts

and humanitarian crisis

Chad has experienced internal conflicts and faced humanitarian crises over the years, which can have a devastating impact on the health and well-being of the population, negatively affecting life expectancy. In addition, Chad is the fourth most corrupt country in the world. This is due to the fact that it has been under a dictatorship for almost three decades, in which repression and corruption are rife.

Health conditions

Chad faces significant challenges in terms of access to quality health services. The lack of medical infrastructure, coupled with a shortage of medical personnel and resources, can negatively affect the country's ability to address diseases and provide basic medical care.

REDUCTION OF INEQUALITIES

ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENTS

HEALTH

  • Ensure that all the population have acess to the most basical health resources.
  • Promote health education so that people make informed decisions about their well-being.
  • Ensure that everyone has access to basic resources such as education, employment and housing.
  • Ensure drinking water and adequate sanitation.
  • Provide safe and healthy living conditions.

CONSEQUENCES

  • Impact on the active population:
Low life expectancy may result in a smaller active population, which could negatively affect the country's labor force and economic development.
  • Challenges in family planning:
Low life expectancy can influence family planning, as families may have more children to compensate for high infant mortality and low life expectancy, which in turn can put more pressure on available resources.
  • Demotivation to have children:
Knowing the future that awaits them, families may feel unmotivated to continue having children.
  • Inestabilidad social:
La falta de perspectivas de vida más largas puede contribuir a la inestabilidad social, ya que las personas pueden sentir menos incentivos para invertir en el futuro y contribuir al bienestar colectivo.
