Podcasts allow you to share your content with listeners from around the world.

Preparation

Interesting Content

Structure

Structure plays a big role in the success of your podcast. In general, a podcast episode should have an intro, a section of main content, and then an outro.

If your content is incorrect, lacking, or if you’re not passionate about your topic, it will make it much less interesting and enjoyable.

Prepping for your episode include researching topics, creating an outline, testing your equipment, and so on

Appeal to the audience

A catchy name

Authenticity

If you lack authenticity or passion the topics, your listeners will know. As you narrow down podcast ideas, be sure to choose topics that you are truly excited about.

Appeal to your specific audience by relating to current events, engaging with your listeners, and choosing modern and culturally relevant topics

The more interesting, informative, and intriguing your podcast name is, the more likely it is that someone will listen.

10

Step 1

RESEARCH: Inform yourself as muchas possible. You must take into consideration that you are supposed to act like experts on the subject. Get your information from trustworthy sources such as official websites, scientific articles or journals, etc. Verify that the information is correct by checking more than one source and comparing the information given.

01. Preparation

EQUIPMENT: Decide when and where you are going to record the podcast. Try different recording devices and do some tests to evaluate the level of background noise.

Choosing a name for your podcast

Write a summary

A summary that entices audiences to listen to your podcast is very important. It has to be like an introduction for your podcast.

The name of your podcast is an important element to think about. Here are some things to take into account:

It should be related to the topic

It should be school appropriate

It should be simple and easy to remember

Short and simple

Enticing and compelling

A well-placed segue can make your podcast flow between topics. Segues can be a phrase, sound effect, or musical jingle.

Your podcast intro lets you give listeners an overview of the episode up front and helps you capture your audience's attention at the outset.

Call to action

Guest intro

Summary

A good summary recaps the main points of your episode for listeners. Most podcasts cover a lot of information and listeners appreciate it.

A call to action is an announcement that requires action from your audience.

With a cohost

Minimalist or freestyle

A script ensures you and your guest don't talk over each other, get confused about what's coming next, forget key points, or confuse listeners.

These scripts don't take much time to make and can provide just enough structure to get an episode off the ground.

Solo Host

Fully scripted

Under each main point, include relevant key points, supporting data, and anecdotes. If you choose this script style, stay conversational, and try not to read your notes.

Try to write in pauses and off-script comments to avoid sounding stilted. This delivery style doesn't allow for many mistakes and can add time to your editing.
