The 3 R rule
Man is part of a complex system, made up of resources and balances that must be guaranteed and safeguarded so that he can have a prosperous future. For this reason it is important to adopt the "3 R rule" in our daily lives: Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.
Reuse
Reduce
Recycle
Recycling consists of separating waste with the idea that it can be subjected to a transformation or recovery process.
Reusing means using an appliance, tool or object again for the same or different use, such as using old boxes or using supermarket bags again.
The term reduce means reducing the consumption of energy and goods, such as turning off taps when not in use.
REDUCE
Waste reduction becomes more effective by going directly to the source of the problem, that is, reducing consumption. It is the question "do I really need it?", the one that should be asked before every purchase. In fact, there are many objects that are purchased without there really being a need for them.
RECYCLE
Objects and materials that are no longer repairable and no longer usable must be disposed of appropriately, so as to allow their recycling. For some of the recyclable materials, like paper and glass, recycling is already a great success. Instead, for materials such as aluminum and plastic it is necessary to introduce improvements in reuse procedures.
REUSE
Items that are no longer used are automatically ready for landfill.
Instead, there are many things that would be suitable for a "second life" and could, for example, be used as second-hand objects by other people, or recycled in other contexts.
