In the past
"La rotonde de la villette" is a landmark build by the architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux,in 1788 in the style neo clasique with some inspiration antique. This building was one of the gate of Paris.It was used to take taxes on the merchandise which are going to Paris.
It has been abonded in 1791 then it was used as a barracks for the municipal guard, then a warehouse until 1921.

"la rotonde de la villette" haven't been destroyed during the contruction of the line 2 because it is classifed "monument historique"since 1907.
Today
"la rotonde de la villette" has survived after two world wars. In 2009 it became a resaurant and a cultural center around music with party and now it still is.
Location
"la rotonde de la villette"is located in the 19th district of Paris,bored to the "bassin de la villette". It is not a touristical district but it's a residential area.
