ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

This workshop is created by combining the benefits of musical and physical active breaks, with the Pomodoro technique to enhance more effective thesis writing sessions. These benefits are further explained, based on neuroscience studies, in the blog post where this workshop is included. Based on the Pomodoro technique, this workshop includes two writing sessions of 25 minutes and two 5-minute breaks in between. We also added a 5-minute preactivity to promote focus and lower stress. If you repeat this cycle twice, it is recommended to take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes, which you will also find at the end of the workshop.

  2. Listening to music: we leave here some options that have been found to release stress and enhance consciousness. However, we´d like to highlight, just like our teacher Minna Huotilainen said in one of our lectures: "Self-chosen music boosts attention, mood, and vigilance!"

  • We intentionally limit the choices to 2-4 activities per one break, because too many choices can overload our brains, and lead to decision fatigue and a lower likelihood of action. Choose one activity per break that you enjoy the most!
