Ovid Synthesis Literature Search

You've got the right idea! Click "Start" to move forward.

Click on the interactive markers to learn more about the Ovid Synthesis Search Interface.

When you select the Doctor of Nursing Practice template, you will need to fill out preliminary information aboout your project. Select the template below to move on to the literature search portion of this tutorial.

A separate template is used for the research portion of your DNP project. Click "Create Project" to create this template.

You will use the DNP Proposal template in your first DNP course, when proposing and getting approval for your research.

Use keywords (not full questions or phrases) here. You can use AND, OR, and NOT to make your search more specific.

Be sure to select both databases so that you see as many results as possible.

Click the plus button to add a new search line. It can be helpful to put one keyword or key phrase per line to automatically add AND between the keywords.
Use the date filter to limit to the literature published in the last 5-10 years.
Click the article title to read the article.
Clicking "Add to Project" will add this article to the Critical Appraisal list in the next phase.

Clicking "Next Stage" will take you to the critical appriasal tool. You can come back and add more literature, even if you click "Next Stage."
