rising action: the section of a story that leads toward its climax
falling action: the period of time in a story that follows the climax and leads to the resolution.
What are they used for?
climax: The climax of a story is the point in the narrative where the tension, excitement, or stakes reach the highest level.
fAlling action
Falling action is the period of time in a story that follows the climax and leads to the resolution. It can be used to clarify the events of the climax, ease any built-up tension, or wrap up loose ends.
WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT
The plot is the events or actions that drive your story — it describes the “what” of your tale. The plot lets the reader know what's happening, describes the problems your characters are trying to solve, and gives the details on how they attempt to solve them. A strong, compelling plot is essential to any story.
RISING ACTION
Rising action is the piece of a story that leads up to the most exciting part—the climax. It consists of: Inciting event(s): Rising action in a story most often follows the inciting event, the point of no return that leads us directly into the bulk or "meat" of the story.
