INTRODUCCION

El agua de los ríos es la base para la acuicultura, riego, recreación, generación eléctrica e industrial, y parte importante del abastecimiento público (Mora et al., 2002). Su demanda mundial para estas actividades es cada día mayor, lo que aumenta su extracción y reduce los caudales disponibles en los ríos. Por otro lado, estos han sido receptores de los residuos generados por las actividades humanas. Estos dos factores son determinantes de la alteración del agua de los ríos, tanto en su cantidad (caudales) como en su calidad.

La solución del problema de la contaminación de los ríos en México, como en muchas otras partes del mundo, en la visión tradicional de diseño de las políticas y programas, (Balkema et al., 2002.) se percibe como una cuestión predominantemente tecnológica y de disponibilidad de recursos financieros

• Construcción de plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales
• Programas de saneamiento o restauración de los ríos
• Fomentar la participación social es el involucramiento de la población en actividades de monitoreo ecológico particularmente de la calidad del agua

Uso de suelo y vegetación del municipio de Texcoco.

Los usos del suelo predominantes son bosque de pino y agricultura de riego semipermanente, estos tipos de suelo abarcan más del 60% de la superficie del municipio.
