Marie Jose Perec

She is, with the cyclist Félicia Ballanger, one of the two French sportswomen to be triple Olympic champion2, and the only French triple Olympic champion in athletics: in 1992 at the Barcelona Games over 400 meters and twice at the Atlanta Games in 1996 over 400 meters and 200 meters. She is also the second to have achieved the double at the Olympic Games in 200 and 400 meters (the first being the American Valerie Brisco-Hooks), and the first athlete, men and women combined, to have won at two Olympic Games consecutive, the title over 400 meters. The time she set in the final at Atlanta 1996, 48.25, is to this day the seventh best performance of all time and for 23 years, the only time achieved within a second of Marita Koch's world record (47.60 in 1985), as well as the Olympic record for the lap of the track. Marie-José Pérec is also a double world champion in the 400m, in Tokyo in 1991 and in Gothenburg in 1995.

slavery in the heart of Guadeloupe

the history of Guadeloupe is marked by the massive deportation, starting in the 1670s, of black African slaves, ancestors of the majority of the current population. This French island in the Antilles (Caribbean Sea) located approximately 600 km to the northern coast of South America, 600 km east of the Dominican Republic and 950 km southeast of the United States was invaded several times by the English and experienced the French Revolution longer than Martinique .
