Ti è mai capitato di sentire o leggere dati espressi in percentuale? Le percentuali, come le frazioni, indicano una parte dell'intero.

Alle elezioni comunali hanno votato in 5.000. Il sindaco Luca Carli è stato eletto con il 72% delle preferenze.

La percentuale esprime una parte dell'intero.

Per calcolare la percentuale:

• si trasforma la percentuale in frazione;
• si calcola il valore della frazione.

72% di 5000 = 72/100 di 5000 = 5000 : 100 X 72 = 50 X 72 = 3600

72% (si legge 72 per cento) delle preferenze indica che, su ciascun gruppo di 100 persone, 72 erano a favore del sindaco. La percentuale equivale ad una frazione con denominatore 100 -> 72% = 72/100.

In un allevamento ci sono 300 mucche. 1/5 sono di razza alpina. A quale percentuale corrispondono le mucche di razza alpina?

1. Si trasforma la frazione in numero decimale -> 1:5 = 0,20
2. Si trasforma il numero decimale in frazione decimale con denominatore 100 -> 0,20 = 20/100
3. Si trasforma la frazione in percentuale -> 20/100 = 20%

Allo spettacolo teatrale della scuola hanno partecipato 170 bambini, che costituivano l'85% di tutti i presenti? Quante persone erano presenti?

1. 85% = 170
2. 170 = 85/100
3. (170:85) X 100 = 2 X 100 = 200
4. Erano presenti 200 persone.

l'aumento, invece, è un importo che va aggiunto.
