There are restrictions on storing personal information outside NSW and additional obligations that need to be met if this is necessary. UTS prefers that health information and sensitive personal information in particular are not stored overseas.
Copies of confidential data should not be stored outside approved systems as it poses additional risk of unauthorised access or disclosure.

Access and use: The data steward ensures access to this data is restricted to those directly involvedin the provision of student accessibility services. Reuse/share: Summary data showing the number of students for different accessibility requirementsis sent to the data warehouse so that capacity planning reports can be generated to ensure sufficient software licenses and support staffare available to support students. The source data steward ensures that onlythe required data is transferred as part of the data sharing agreement that must be raised for the inter-domain data transfer to occur.

The university collects data from studentswith accessibility requirements relatedto disability.
This is personal health information and the data steward ensures that only the data that is relevant and necessary is collected.
They also ensure that this is reflected in the privacy notice supplied, so that students understand how the information will be used.
The notice indicates that the data will be usedto provide services to support the student and may also advise data will be used for quality improvement and planning purposes.
