Collect Highlights
Extract key information
Students and teachers can use the Read&Write extension to highlight key information in Google Docs, or PDFs and place it in a Google Doc. The Highlighters and Collect Highlights tools are available in all 3 toolbars. There are four different highlighter colors to choose from: yellow, green, blue, and pink. After clicking the Collect Highlights button, Read&Write creates a new Google Doc containing all of your highlighted sections, and then opens it in a new tab.
- Sort highlights by color or position
- The document includes a link to the original website
- Highlights documents are saved to Google Drive as Highlights Untitled

Voice Notes
Add audio comments
Students and teachers can use the Read&Write extension to add audio comments in Google Docs, or the comment section of PDFs. Simply select a word or phrase in a document and click the Voice Note symbol on the Read&Write toolbar. Record your comment and when you are happy with the voice note, click Comment to add it to your document. Read&Write will add the voice note like any other comment in your Google Doc or PDF.
- Voice notes can be up to 1:00 minute in length
- Play back recordings and re-record as needed
- When you add a voice note to a document, it is saved to Google Drive > My Voice Notes in a folder specific to that document

Dictionaries
Gain access to word meaning
Students can use the Read&Write extension to highlight words or phrases and access their definitions in Google Docs, websites, and PDFs. The Talking Dictionary provides text definitions which can also be read aloud. The Picture Dictionary provides symbols and images of words to help support fluency and understanding. Both dictionaries can be used together and the boxes can be moved anywhere on the screen. Once opened, clicking on a new word will display a definition or picture for that word.
- Use the Dictionary, Picture Dictionary, and Translator tools together as they auto sync with the highlighted word, giving students choice of support
- Images within the Picture Dictionary box can be clicked and dragged onto Google Docs
