Copernicus

Copernicus là một nhà thiên văn học người Ba Lan nổi tiếng với lý thuyết “Mặt trời mới là trung tâm của vũ trụ chứ không phải Trái đất.”

• Nicolaus Copernicus sinh ngày 19/02/1473 tại Thorn (Torun ngày nay), Ba Lan, và có cha là một thương nhân và quan chức địa phương. Khi Copernicus lên 10, cha ông mất và chú của ông – một giáo sĩ – đã đảm bảo cho Copernicus có được một nền tảng giáo dục tốt. Năm 1491, ông đến Học viện Krakow (nay là Đại học Jagiellonia) và đến Ý vào năm 1496 để học luật. Khi còn là sinh viên tại Đại học Bologna, ông đã ở cùng một giáo sư toán học là Domenico Maria de Novara, người đã truyền cho Copernicus niềm đam mê về địa lý và thiên văn học

• Năm 1530, công trình vĩ đại của Copernicus – cuốn ‘Về chuyển động quay của các thiên thể’ (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres) – được hoàn thành. Lý thuyết trung tâm của tác phẩm này là Trái đất tự quay quanh trục của nó hằng ngày và xoay quanh Mặt trời hằng năm. Ông cũng lập luận rằng các hành tinh xoay quanh Mặt trời – điều đã thách thức quan điểm từ lâu rằng Trái đất đứng yên ở trung tâm vũ trụ, trong khi tất cả các hành tinh khác, Mặt trăng và Mặt trời quay quanh Trái đất.
• Đầu năm 1543, ‘Về chuyển động quay của các thiên thể’ được xuất bản và Copernicus mất vào ngày 24/05 cùng năm.

Mô hình hệ nhật tâm cho rằng:

• Mặt Trời nằm yên ở trung tâm vũ trụ.
• Các hành tinh (Thuỷ tinh, Kim tinh, Trái Đất, Hoả tỉnh, Mộc tinh, Thổ tinh) chuyển động xung quanh Mặt Trời theo quỹ đạo tròn và cùng chiều.
• Trái Đất quay xung quanh trục của nó trong khi chuyển động quanh Mặt Trời.
• Mặt Trăng chuyển động trên một quỹ đạo tròn quanh Trái Đất.
• Các hành tinh kể theo thứ tự tăng dần từ Mặt Trời là: Thuỷ tinh, Kim tinh, Trái Đất, Hoả tỉnh, Mộc tinh và Thổ tinh.
• Các sao ở rất xa và cố định trên thiên cầu.
