There was no warning before from the earthquake that caused it. It killed 156 people and caused 26 million dollars in damage. To this day there are still only about 600 population Laupahoehoe compared to its 1,000 people before.

Known as the largest earthquake since 1868. It had a magnitude of 7.2 and its epicenter was located in Kamoamoa. The earthquake caused landslides and moderate-sized tsunamis..

Land

Hawaii is made up of 8 major islands. More than half of the land in the state belongs to corporations or private individuals. The HHC (Hawaiian Home Lands Commission) controls the transfer of land for people of Hawaiian descent.

The eruption started on January 3, 1983. The eruption lasted about 35 years. It added 499 acres to the island and covered 48 square miles of land. The pyroclastic flow travels at a speed of 10 to 30 mph. The eruption caused the volcano to be renamed to pu'u'o'o.

The hurricane hit the island on August 14, 1950. It hit the land with the force of 150 mph winds.

Constitution

In Hawaii, there are only 2 levels of government. There is the state and 4 counties. Each of these levels has a mayor and a council. Daniel Inouye is the first senator of Hawaiian descent. An April 2, 1868 about a magnitude 7.9 earthquake shook all the islands. Itcause mudslids and masive power plants to be shutdown. The earthquake alone clamed 31 lives. After the earthquake trigerd a tsunami that claimed about 50 more.

Hurricane Iniki hit on September 11, 1992. The people of Hawaii were not prepared because it was in the south. It became a danger when it suddenly changed its course. It hit Hawaii with 200 mph winds.
