Hawaii is an island state located in the central Pacific Ocean on the ring of fire. There 5 major active volcanoes in Hawaii (Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Hualalai, Haleakala, and Lohi Seamount). It has a tropical kappen climate and a population of 1.442 million people. They have a national disaster death rate of 9.2 for every 100,000 people.

Agrioculture
Agriculture is a major part of Hawaii's local economy. They have a variety of plants in Hawaii. Raising livestock, commercial fishing, and lumbering are major sources of income in Hawaii.
There was no warning before from the earthquake that caused it. It killed 156 people and caused 26 million dollars in damage. To this day there are still only about 600 population Laupahoehoe compared to its 1,000 people before.
Known as the largest earthquake since 1868. It had a magnitude of 7.2 and its epicenter was located in Kamoamoa. The earthquake caused landslides and moderate-sized tsunamis..
Land
Hawaii is made up of 8 major islands. More than half of the land in the state belongs to corporations or private individuals. The HHC (Hawaiian Home Lands Commission) controls the transfer of land for people of Hawaiian descent.
Manufacturing and labor
There are many different types of manufacturing companies in Hawaii. Heavy manufacturing is done in Oahu. Honolulu is known for manufacturing garments such as fabrics and clothing. The products are either sold locally or sent to the mainland which is the U.S.
Taxation and Services
Tourism is Hawaii's main industry. It has helped Hawaii become the center of the Pacific Basin international market. Hawaii is one of the most unionized state in the country. It collects its taxes from a centralized tax system.
The eruption started on January 3, 1983. The eruption lasted about 35 years. It added 499 acres to the island and covered 48 square miles of land. The pyroclastic flow travels at a speed of 10 to 30 mph. The eruption caused the volcano to be renamed to pu'u'o'o.
In 1960 Hawaii was hit with a 35-foot wave. The tsunami came from the 9.5 magnitude earthquake. It damaged 500 homes and businesses. It also killed 61 people.
Resources and power
Hawaii does not have a large variety of minerals so they mainly rely on imports for oil. For other things, they use their own natural resources. Hawaii uses geothermal and hydroelectric power. Geothermal energy makes up 1/5 of total electricity.
The hurricane hit the island on August 14, 1950. It hit the land with the force of 150 mph winds.
Constitution
In Hawaii, there are only 2 levels of government. There is the state and 4 counties. Each of these levels has a mayor and a council. Daniel Inouye is the first senator of Hawaiian descent. He supported the Akaka Act which established a native Hawaiian governing body for issues on land, assets, and natural recources.
Hurricane Iwa hit Hawaii on November 23, 1982. The eye of the hurricane landed over Kaua'i. The vicious wind hit Ni'ihau and O'ahu with 120 mph winds. This hurricane destroyed many buildings and powerlines.
An April 2, 1868 about a magnitude 7.9 earthquake shook all the islands. Itcause mudslids and masive power plants to be shutdown. The earthquake alone clamed 31 lives. After the earthquake trigerd a tsunami that claimed about 50 more.
Hurricane Iniki hit on September 11, 1992. The people of Hawaii were not prepared because it was in the south. It became a danger when it suddenly changed its course. It hit Hawaii with 200 mph winds.
The eruption began on November 27, 2022, and lasted for 12 days, reaching a distance of 1.7 miles from Saddle Road. It covered a total of 16.5 square miles of land.
The Mauna Loa eruption started on March 25, 1984. The eruption lasted for 22 days and reached 7.2 km away from Hilo.
In august 1959 hurricane dot hit. It was known as one of the most costliest hurricanes in Hawaii at the time. It directly hit Kauai and rained more than 8 inches in Lihue. It cost 6 million dollars which is about 50 million dollars today.
