Initial whole number exam grades proposed were 17-18. After discussion we agreed on an overall 18 for the exam. Poetry Commentary: 18 (2+1.5+1.5+1.5+1.5) Essay Question 4 ("sight"), using The Handmaid's Tale and The Great Gatsby: 18.25 (2+1.5+2+1.5+1.25)

A commentary of an 'in-depth' work excerpt

In-depth works include a prose work and the set of poems selected by the teacher. This is why it must be clearly flagged in the syllabus.

Candidates are invited to demonstrate an understanding and overview of a given topic area by reference to, and discussion of, a number of previously prepared texts, usually in at least two genres. Teachers choose one of two prescribed topics: A number of ‘key issues’ within each topic will be defined by the Cambridge Inspector. Candidates will be asked to begin the oral by speaking on one of these key issues for 5 minutes. This will be followed by further discussion (10 minutes) of the key issue and broader discussion of the synoptic topic.

1. All schools with candidates for 2024 should fill out the google form on the wiki (under Program, Free Choice Works) by November 8th. When submitting prose passages and poems for the commentary section of the exam, consult this list first to make sure the authors are not taught on a school syllabus. (if you can't access the document, please send me your list ) 2. All schools with candidates for 2024 should send their syllabus to Antony McDermott and their respective Subject Coordinator Kristi or Joëlle by December 1st for uploading on the wiki. Please note that schools can no longer upload their own material. Also include copies of both poetry units and any other photocopied units. Editions/ISBNs of in-depth works should be made clear. Send PDFs only. 3. All new schools with candidates for 2025 should send their syllabus to their respective Subject Coordinators and Inspectors (Kristi and Pamela or Joëlle and Leslie) for approval by December 1st. 4. Signal any transfer students for the 2024 session to Kristi or Joëlle by December 1st. 5. The new ACL oral assessment rubric is being updated and will be shared in November. It will be effective immediately, to be used for the 2024 examination session. Note that there is no change in the commentary or essay rubric, other than a name change from OIB to BFI. 6. Examination dates have been confirmed for those schools connected to the exam session in France; . CdM oral exams week of May 13th-17th ACL written exam Tuesday May 28th (HG May 29th) ACL and HG oral exams week of June 3rd-8th (Saturday morning possible) Exact oral dates for each school and center to be confirmed by Jérôme Giovendo. 7. We have confirmed dates for our spring meetings; please "save the dates"! For schools linked to the examination session in France: ACL online Thursday March 28th 9h-12h and 13h-15h

EITHER the students choose to do one question from Part One (Shakespeare) and one question from Part Two (Set Texts) OR two questions from Part Two (Set Texts) but from two different sections (Drama, Prose, Poetry).

ESSAY

The candidate is asked to answer a general question on literature using ONE work from the 2-year program. If the candidate chooses to write 2 essays, then 2 different works must be used.

Épreuves ACL LVB BRIT: Nouvelles grilles sur les key points –-> Le seul moyen de reconnaissance pour les A-Levels en Angleterre key points redéfinis par rapport aux key points de départ (le handbook est celui de l’an dernière..) Keypoints : la focale est sur l’analyse littéraire Un seul sujet papier Sujet bilingue + trilingue sur même papier (épreuve allégée pour LVB) – Key points LVB arrivent pour l’évaluation (b2/C1 en LVB) - Grilles d’accompagnement à l’évaluation sur EDUSCOL (c’est une ressource) Pour ACL écrit c’est la même grille que pour l'attestation de langues -Critères assez génériques : il faut les adapter par rapport au key points

Épreuves ACL LVB américain: Bandeaux du bas plus négatifs que nos grilles, on met plus les élèves en valeur Eux démarrent à 13 alors qu’en France on démarre en bas (A1) LVB même corpus que LVA L’idée est de valoriser les élèves – être plus ouvert et être dans le positif
