Fossils versus modern organism

Fossil evidence and the fact of evolution

The fossil record is among the most convincing arguments in favor of the existence of the evolutionary process. Fossils are organic remains that have undergone chemical and geological petrification. They can be made of skeletons, skin, cuticles, shells, or even remnants of previous activities, like as nests, walking or sliding imprints, or marks made by leaning. The intricate process of fossilization is dependent upon the features of the environment in which the organism is buried after death.

The structure of the theory of evolution

Mutations are a group of events that take place in heritable molecules that change an organism's genome, or the order in which its genetic information is encoded

Genetic drift

Is an evolutionary mechanism that causes random events or human activity within a population to alter the frequency of alleles within that population in the following generation. That has nothing to do with how kinder, smarter, stronger, or the other way around the person with that particular feature. The bottleneck effect and the founder effect are two instances of this.

Migration

The process of one or more people moving from one population to another so they can procreate with the locals is known as migration. Because new members almost likely bring unique alleles with them, migration fosters genetic diversity within immigrant communities and lessens genetic isolation between them.

Natural selection

All evolutionary change stems from natural selection. It is the process by which more suited species gradually push out less adapted ones in the population as a result of gradual beneficial genetic changes that occur over many generations (Lamarckismo).

Perform an analysis

Read the following paragraph and express in detail your personal opinion on the matter, either accepting or refuting what is expressed:
According to Jean Baptiste Lamarck, all species—from the simplest to the most complex—come from one another. Each species' organs would grow as a result of its response to and adaptation to its surroundings. As a result, the changes would come gradually and over a long time.

How can the age of fossils be determined?

Cause of extinction: Inability of species to adapt

Extreme weather patterns and climate change, coupled with rising temperatures, pose a constant threat to both the world's biodiversity and humankind. This is possibly a very significant factor because it impacts not only the species' housing site but also its resources for survival, which in turn impacts every aspect of the species' behavior.

The extinction

Given that over 90% of all species that have ever existed on Earth are extinct, extinction is a natural occurrence. However, because of our involvement in habitat loss, climate change, invasive species, disease, overfishing, and hunting, humans have accelerated rates of natural extinction.

Fossilization can occur in different ways: Amber is a product that comes from the sap or resin of a tree that forms a protective seal around the trapped organism and hardens over time. There are other methods of fossilization such as carbonization, but this almost always gives rise to the fossil fuel called carbon.

Standard evolutionary theory understands that evolution is the result of the action of four independent forces that alter the genetic composition of populations.

SC.7.L.15.1 Recognize that fossil evidence is consistent with the scientific theory of evolution that living things evolved from earlier species. SC.7.L.15.2 Explore the scientific theory of evolution by recognizing and explaining ways in which genetic variation and environmental factors contribute to evolution by natural selection and diversity of organisms. SC.7.L.15.3 Explore the scientific theory of evolution by relating how the inability of a species to adapt within a changing environment may contribute to the extinction of that species.
