Evolution of Johnny's stand

Event/Enemy

Lesson 4

Lesson 4 is "Pay the respect and spin the bullets in the golden ratio." Gyro learned this from his father when he was younger. His father told him to say "I can't make it" four times, so Gyro asked Johnny to do the same thing. Johnny finally found the golden ratio in nature and learned the real technique of the golden spin.

Gyro and Johnny went through the finish line of the fourth stage, but it seemed like they were not the first or second place. Two of the other participants had already finished about half an hour ago.

Before leaving from Kansas City, Diego had a secret meeting with the President Funny Valentine. They discussed a trade, which was that Diego helped the government to find the traitor who broke into the government building (Lucy Steel) and then gave the Saint's eyeball in his body. On the contrary, he receives Manhattan Island in New York City as his prize. Valentine accepted the request and assigned another stand user to work with Diego to kill Johnny and Gyro.

Because of the horse's injury, Diego didn't make it into the top 20. But Gyro knew that he was gonna return to the competition once he got well organized. People like Diego piss him a lot.

Kansas City

The champion of this stage is belong to the popular racer Diego Brando from England. The third place is Sandman, who won first place in the first stage.

Before the finish line of the second stage. Johnny found that the strange marks on his arm had the same shape as the mountains on the newspaper. He excitedly asked Gyro to see the newspaper in his hand. At the moment of hesitation, Gyro missed the champion of this stage, but Johnny won second place.

From the reader's view, we see that the US President Funny Valentine has the heart of the Saint's corpse in his body.

Monument Valley

With the protection of the saint's corpse, Johnny didn't turn into a dinosaur, but Gyro was affected and controlled by the enemy.

Johnny and Gyro met Diego Brando in the middle of the race at the third stage. Johnny accidentally noticed the abnormal scales that appeared on Diego's arm. Later in the village at night, Diego turned into a dinosaur. Johnny and Gyro assumed that it was a stand attack.

Johnny actively gave up his saint's left arm and turned into a dinosaur. Before he got controlled by the enemy, Dr. Ferdinand, he took both of the saint's eyes from Dr. Ferdinand. Gyro got one of the saint's eyes and obtained a new ability to scan with an extra eye on his steel ball. He then defeated Dr. Ferdinand, but the other eyeball was taken away by Diego.

All the people in the village became dinosaurs because of the enemy's stand. Johnny and Gyro decided to go directly to the mountain that they found earlier in the newspaper to get the new corpse part

Gyro realized that it is hard to get the champion of SBR with his own strength. He then asked Johnny Joestar to be his partner and finish the race together. In exchange, Gyro will teach the steel ball technique. Johnny quickly accepted the deal since Gyro's steel ball technique was his purpose for being in SBR.

Santa Maria Novella Church

After only 15000 meters of the race, all the riders get to the finish line of the first stage. The champion of each stage can win 100 points, and the second place can only get 50 points, the rest of the racers will win the points with a gradually decreased number. Because of the penalty, Gyro's rank in the first stage is moved 20 places behind to the 21st place, and Johnny is in the 5th place.

The story of SBR starts in San Diego, California. Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli first met each other here. Johnny occasionally discovered the steel ball technique that Gyro has. The effect of Gyro's steel ball made Johnny's disable legs move for a second, so Johnny decided to follow Gyro to the great horse race SBR to find the secret of the steel ball technique.

San Diego

However, one participant called Hot Pants passed the finish line one hour before every other rider, so Johnny was the second place.

Before the destination of the third stage, a lake is in the middle of the road. There are three ways to choose: 1. go to the left with a hill-like road. 2. go to the right with a flat dirt road 3. go straight into the lake.

Gyro and Diego chose to go into the water, and Johnny followed them. However, Johnny changed his mind and told Gyro that Gyro wouldn't beat Diego at this stage. Then he turned back to the right side. Just like Johnny predicted, Gyro didn't overcome Diego, but Johnny was the one who finished before both of them.

Hot Pants

Canon City

When fighting with Boomboom family, Gyro's hands were trapped by the enemy, so Johnny had to be the one to use the spinning technique of the steel ball. Johnny was not confident to spin the bullet in his hand, so Gyro told him to "believe in the spin." Only when you believe in Zeppeli's steel ball technique, the spin will work for you.

Lesson 3

Gyro accidentally dropped his steel ball into a little pond and a girl brought the steel ball into a tree house. Gyro and Johnny followed her to the tree house to ask for the steel ball, but the girl asked Gyro if he dropped the diamond or the gold. Gyro just wanted his steel ball back, and he won the diamond and the gold as his prize for being honest. Gyro then exchanges a lot of valuable stuff with this employment and also gets the saint's ears and right hand by using a rabbit's corpse. When they left the tree house, the girl told them to "consume" everything before sunset.

Another killer from the President comes to kill Gyro and Johnny. Gyro spent all his money hiring the other people in the casino to be his body guards and beat the killer. However, since they also have to consume the corpse parts, Johnny exchanged the copse parts to the killer with a half bottle of wine.

In order to spend everything, Johnny and Gyro went to the casino and hope they can lose everything.

Mountain Tim

Boomboom Family (Benjamin Boomboom, AndreBoomboom, LA Boomboom)

Gyro and Johnny encountered the Boomboom family. They have special abilities which enable them to control the metal, including the iron in human blood. In the middle of the fight, the cowboy Mountain Tim became Gyro and Johnny's ally. When they were almost killed, Johnny Joestar awakened his stand power: Tusk I. It makes Johnny spin his fingernails and shoot the nails as bullets.

Johnny's Ability

SBR was controlled by the US President Funny Valentine (the bottom-right corner). He expects the participants in the race to find the corpse parts, and he could send the killers to collect these corpse parts for him.

Johnny's stand, Tusk I appeared from Johnny's left hand for the first time. It printed some strange Latin words on Johnny's left hand. With the stand's help, Johnny saved Gyro, and Gyro defeated the enemy. Surprisingly, Johnny found his feet moving slightly. He believed that it was the effect of the corpse part on his body, so he decided to collect more corpse parts during the race.

As Gyro and Johnny approached the destination of the 2nd stage in SBR, Johnny accidentally found that there was a dry corpse inside of his body. From the third-person view, we can see that the corpse is the Saint's corpse part, and collecting the corpse parts is the real purpose of SBR.

During the fight with the new enemy, Johnny found that the enemy's purpose was to get the "mummified hand" in his left arm.

Before the fight, Ringo said Johnny could be his opponent, but Gyro would never win him. He doesn't welcome a "conformist".

Not far after the start point of the fourth stage, Johnny and Gyro met Hot Pants. They found out that Hot Pants was a stand user, and they decided to keep their distance from Hot Pants. However, soon three of them found that they were trapped in the same area for a long time. No matter how many marks they make on the trunks of the trees, they always go back to a wooden house. Another rider in SBR called Gaucho was also trapped. He told Johnny, Gyro, and Hot Pants that he had asked the man in the wood house the way to get out of this little forest, but the man just said, if you kill me, you can find your way out. Gaucho then had a legal duel with the man in the house, but he finally got killed.

Gyro and Johnny didn't want to kill the man, and they both thought what the man said was totally fake. But they still return to the wood house after several tries. Then then discovered that they couldn't waste any more time there.

When Ringo was dead, he said he was happy to see that Gyro had finally entered the "true man's world". In SBR, Gyro will show more eagerness to fulfill his goal.

Ringo then beat both Johnny and Hot Pants and dragged Johnny's body into the house to collect the saint's left hand on Johnny's body. Gyro awakened his "dark determination" and stepped inside the house to have a duel with Ringo again. They scanned Ringo's body with his saint's eyeball and found Ringo's old injury. He then beat Ringo.

They had no way but to fight with the man, and the man named Ringo showed his stand, the man's world, which can reverse the time for 6 seconds.

The enemy, Oyecomova was a criminal when escaped from the jail in Gyro's home country. The bomb he makes has many little clocks on it, once the clock pops up from the bomb, the bomb will explode. The picture below shows when Oyecomova turned Gyro's steel ball into a bomb

At a terminal station within the 2nd stage, Mountain Time found a person stealing Gyro's stuff in the bag. He then alarmed the person. However, the person with weird pale skin used his stand power (turn everything he touches into a bomb) to make Mountain Tim explode. Since Mountain Tim has the standing power, he survived from the explosion, but he quit SBR because of his severe injury.

Johnny and Gyro finally worked together to beat Oyecomova.

Oyecomova Boku no Rhythm wo kiitekure

Since Gyro lost all of his steel balls, he needed to count on Johnny's nail bullets to beat the enemy. Johnny that he always felt the limitation of his spin of the nails. So Gyro told the secret of the spinning technique, which is to find the spiral route based on the 16:9 golden rectangles. The spin that follows that route is called the golden spin, which won't feel the limitation of its strength.

Gyro was then heavily injured while trying to stop the attack from the enemy. When Johnny nearly gave up, he found that there were full golden rectangles in nature, such as the leaves and the butterflies' wings. Johnny successfully used the power of golden spin and beat the enemy, who was surprisingly Sandman.

Johnny and Gyro encountered an unknown attack. Everything that touches a wooden house is cut into pieces, and Johnny is trapped inside the house. While the house was falling apart, Johnny asked Gyro to run first.

However, Gyro uses his steel to help Johnny dig a hole underground to get out of the fallen house. Gyro felt surprised that Johnny gave up that easily.

(Sandman was Diego Brando's partner.)

Blackmore then chased Lucy. in a place that is northwest of Kansas City. Lucy had collected the Saint's spine, and she was going to find Johnny and Gyro due to Mountain Tim's instruction. Blackmore got the spine from Lucy, but the moment when he got distracted, Lucy shot him in the neck.

The wife of the manager of SBR, Lucy Steel, found the President's plan of collecting the saint's corpse. She realized that once the government reached its goal, then her husband, who knew the secret, would be killed. So she sneaked into the government building in Kansas City and stole the message that Ringo sent to the government with pigeons. However, her action was discovered. At the urgent moment, she called Mountain Tim to save her.

Blackmore used the immobilized raindrops to seal his wounds and chased Lucy again, but he was finally beaten by Gyro and Johnny. After Blackmore died, Gyro checked his body and claimed that he had already died a long time ago, but his ability kept him alive for a longer time. Once the rain stopped, he died.

Because of rescuing a betrayer of the government, Mountain Tim was then killed by the President's detective Blackmore. Blackmore was a stand user. His stand Catch the Rainbow can immobilize the rain drops in the air.

After knowing Lucy's dilemma, Gyro gives his saint's eyeball to Lucy and asks her to steal the saint's heart from the President's body. The eyeball could reveal the heart since the body parts all attract each other.

But the price is that Gyro lost the scanning ability of his steel ball.

Hot Pants then cured all the wounds of Gyro and Johnny by using her stand power. When Johnny and Gyro woke, they discovered that they were already on the other side of the river. They predicted that Hot Pants was not their enemy, but she probably engaged in SBR to collect the corpse parts.

After killing Sandman, Hot Pants appeared and took all the corpse parts from Johnny's body. The mark on her bag is the same as Gyro's bag, indicating they are from the same country.

Lesson 1

Gyro taught Johnny five lessons throughout the whole trip. This is the first lesson, also the way to move on horseback: "If you have the will, you've already found the answer.

Chicago

The author didn't really show the scene of Johnny and Gyro going through the finish line, but we could assume that because of the fight and injuries, Johnny and Gyro were left behind by the other top participants, and they finished the fifth stage about 20 minutes later than the 1st place Pocoloco.

Lesson 2

After Johnny and Gyro became partners, Gyro taught Johnny the second lesson of the steel ball technique, which is "Work those muscles, and don't let the muscles discover." By controlling the muscles, Johnny cooperated with his horse "Slow Dancer" to get off the horseback by using the power of the spinning.

The man with the steel balls was called Wekapipo. Gyro knew that he couldn't beat Wekapipo, so he beat the other guy called Magent Magent. However, even though the partner was beaten, Wekapipo still held the advantage fighting Gyro and Johnny. Very soon, all of Johnny's nail

Near Lake Michigan, Gyro and Johnny saw two men riding towards them. As they approached, a weird-looking steel ball was thrown at them. Gyro and Johnny were shocked that there was someone else who could also use the steel ball technique. Gyro threw his steel ball to hit the weird-looking steel balls in the air, but the enemy's steel balls were somehow stronger. Gyro recognized that the steel ball technique was designed for the army in his home country. The golden spin can beat the steel ball, but since they are in the middle of an ice land, there is no golden rectangle for them to observe and.

bullets were used. Gyro and Wekapipo came to the last round. All of a sudden, the snowflakes fell from the air, Gyro found the gold rectangle on the snowflake and used the golden spin. He then beat Wekapipo and collected the saint's feet. After the communication, Wekapipo found out that Gyro saved his sister back in their home country, so he decided to join Gyro's side. Gyro then asked him to go to protect Lucy Steel.

After talking with Wekapipo, Johnny and Gyro ran to the finish line of the 6th stage. They cooperated and made a "bridge" by using the steel ball to go across the cliff. Finally, Gyro and Johnny won the first and second places of this stage.

Mackinow City

The opponent knew that he couldn't win Johnny anymore, so he intended to take all the corpse parts away. Johnny's Dark Determination appeared again. He tried his best to prevent the enemy from taking away the corpse. Surprisingly, Funny Valentine suddenly shot the guy with a pistol and took the corpse with him.

In the middle of the 7th stage, Gyro and Johnny saw Hot Pants passed through them very urgently. They then followed Hot Pants since she took all the corpse parts away after Johnny beat Sandman.

They saw Hot Pants walked into a church, so they also got in. However, Hot Pants was already trapped by the enemy's stand power, and Gyro soon also fell into the trap. So Johnny needed to face the enemy alone.

Johnny found it impossible to beat the enemy, but the soul on the saint's corpse, Jesus, appeared behind him. By listening to Jesus's advice, Johnny awakened his new stand power, Tusk III, and beat the enemy.

Philadelphia

Finally, Johnny and Gyro made it to the finish line of 7th stage. The fight we had exhausted them, so they only got the 6th and 7th place at this stage. From the display board, they found that Diego Brando returned to the race and won first place on this stage, which was just like how Gyro predicted when he knew that Diego would eventually come back with full strength.

Valentine's ability Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, known as D4C, allows him to travel between different universes when he is physically between two objects. For example, when he is between the US flag and the ground. And he is the only person that can exist in the other universes.

(Johnny's Tusk III saved him)

In Philadelphia, Johnny decided to find the other corpse parts that the President took from him and claimed that he could shoot the President. Gyro asked Johnny to watch his back and Johnny saw Valentine walking towards Gyro. When Johnny was about to tell Gyro to be aware of the enemy, he got shot by someone.

Since the President didn't really want to give Manhattan Island to Diego, he revealed his stand power to try to kill Diego. However, with Wekapipo's help, Diego escaped and seems like killed Valentine. But Valentine actually escaped from the attack and dragged Diego to the other universe which is parallel to the main universe.

Diego asked Wekapipo to drag him out from the other universe, but he tricked Wekapipo and made the two Wekapipo crash each other and die. He escaped from the fight, and Valentine also disappeared..

Diego and Hot Pants worked together to try to kill Valentine. Diego almost made it and he fell off from the train with Valentine. However, since they were both jammed between the railway and the train, Valentine escaped to the other universe and Diego died.

Johnny and Gyro saw how Diego got killed by Valentine, and he decided to finish the President. The President had done to many brutal murders, and they will eventually be killed by Valentine if they don't kill him

first. Looking at the inside of the train, Lucy had turned into the shape of the saint's corpse since the whole corpse was inside of her body. Hot Pants tried to attack Valentine, but her attack resulted in her own death.

Because of the power of the saint's corpse, Lucy's body emits a golden tunnel. When Valentine stays in that tunnel, he will be invincible. All the damage will be transferred to a random person on earth. He wanted to use this power to make the US a blessed country.

At last, Johnny used Gyro's steel ball to make his horse, Slow Dance kicked him with a golden ratio. In the air, Johnny shot Valentine with golden spin, which eventually killed Valentine, and he couldn't escape to the other universes anymore. Johnny then used Hot Pants' spray to cure Lucy, Stephen, and himself. Finally, he continued the race to the finish line of the eighth stage.

Johnny and Gyro went closer to try to stop the train, but they saw the driver was forced by the President to hold the stick to move the train. If he doesn't hold on to it, he will die by crashing into his other body from the other universe. Gyro then told Johnny an ancient technique. If the horse runs in the golden ratio and throws the steel ball with a golden spin, the strength will be much more stronger.

With Stephen Steel's help, Gyro got Lucy on his horse, and Valentine hid in the golden tunnel again. At last, Gyro used the perfect golden spin, but Lucy's existence affected Gyro's steel ball. Even though Gyro's stand appeared, he still didn't get through the tunnel. Gyro was then killed by Valentine.

Union Beach

Johnny discovered the footprints of Diego's horse on the ground. He thought Diego was dead, so this made him really surprised. He soon met Diego in the race, and he attacked Diego without hesitation. However, this Diego is from the other universe that Valentine brought to this world to finish the unfinished works that Valentine should have done by himself. His stand The World allows him to stop the time for 5 seconds, so he avoided all the attacks from Johnny.

New York City

Finally, Diego won the whole SBR. Because of the effect of own ability, Johnny couldn't even get on to his horse anymore. He cried for his failure and Gyro's death.

Johnny continued to chase Diego in the race, but his attack couldn't hit Diego under the protection of The World. By sacrificing a foot, Diego made Johnny hit by his whole ability Tusk IV.

Because of the deal that Diego made with Valentine, he put the saint's corpse in a basement after SBR. Lucy came to him and gave him a bundle. Inside of the bundle, it was the head of the Diego in this world, so Diego died by crashing into his own head.

In the end, Johnny brought Gyro's body back to his home country. His legs were all good after the whole thing that happened, so he actually fulfilled what he originally wanted. At last, Johnny held Gyro's steel ball and said, "Let's go home."

On the other side, Stephen Steel saved Johnny. Since Diego was dead, Pocoloc became the winner of SBR.

Lesson 5

Lesson 5 is "The shortest route was a detour." Based on my own understanding, it means that if you try to get to the goal too urgently, you will eventually fail to make it. The most important thing is not just the outcome, if you have an enriched process, the outcome will come nearer to you natually.

Tusk Act I

The most basic state of Johnny's stand. It can only make Johnny should the nail bullets with very limited damage, but all the nails can re-grow instantly. It appeared after Johnny learned how to use the steel ball technique while fighting the Boomboom family.

Tusk Act II

Tusk II allows Johnny's nail bullets to automatically track the target, and its damage is much stronger compared to Tusk I. Johnny obtained this ability after understanding Gyro's Lesson 4 and learning the way to use the golden spin.

Tusk Act III

While fighting Civil War, Jesus told Johnny "if your heart is wavering, then don't shoot." Johnny finally overcame his fear of the past and found a new way to use the power of the golden spin. Tusk III allows Johnny's body parts to move around with the bullet holes made by the nail bullets.

Tusk Act IV

While the horse also moved with the golden ratio, Johnny successfully used the perfect golden spin and his stand evolved into Tusk IV. Tusk IV has the strongest damage. Once a person gets shot by Tusk IV, he/she will die no matter what. Even with the ability of D4C, Valentine couldn't escape from Johnny's Tusk IV.
