Tudo começou logo após o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial, período em que aconteceu um boom de turistas e viajantesde avião pelo mundo. Juan Trippe, que estava no comando da tradicional Pan American World Airways (mais conhecida como PanAm), empresa aérea fundada em 1927.

Rapidamente outros hotéis foram sendo construídos ao longo de suas rotas. Principalmente na América Latina.

O primeiro hotel da rede foi inaugurado em 1947

Os hotéis não serviam somente milhares de turista

Também serviam como base de hospedagem de seus 40 mil funcionários de bordo e pilotos. Com a rede inaugurando suas primeiras unidades fora da América Latina, sendouma das primeiras a estabelecer hotéis na região do Oriente Médio, Ásia e África. Em 1963, num período de duas semanas,a rede ianugurou 4 unidades na Europa.

Em 1947, foi inaugurado com o nome de Hotel Grande. Quando poucos conheciam o conceito de hotel cinco estrelas.

A rede foi adquirida elo Grupo Bass PLC. Por US$500 milhões.

2003

Com a separação das unidades de negócios, foi criada a IC Hotels Group. Que hoje administra 11 marcas internacionais em mais de 100 países

2007

IC inaugurou seu hotel de número 150 em Dubai.
