MLB Rule Changes from the Players Perseptives

Games played on streaming servicers

Pitch clock rule

Base size increased

Shift elimination

Many players were massive supporters of games being aired on streaming platforms. They believe it's a great way to get games out to the public and atract non-baseball fans.

Along with the shift elimination, the increased size of bases was also received well, "New larger bases have been introduced to improve player safety and to modestly encourage more stolen-base attempts. The bases are now 18-square inches, up from 15-square inches" (The Peninsula).

The pitch clock had mixed reactions from players, "Shortstop Xander Bogaerts said he liked the idea of the game being played at a better pace. He hopes the changes will lead to more action on the field" (Peter).

The elimination of the shift was well received by most players. The shift would often takeway hits from batters and just make the game diffiult to watch from the general audience. The elimination of that rule pleased most player and fans.

Reflection

Infographics and academic essays are different in many ways. The most obvious one is the visual vs textual representation. Infographics are very visually driven to get their information across such as images, icons, or graphs, while academic essays are represented primarily by text to convey arguments, ideas, and evidence. The audience also differs for each, such as, infographics are aimed to quickly communicate information to a more general audience. On the other hand, academic essays are typically targeted towards a more specialized audience, such as professors or researchers and it tends to go more in depth to the topic. The reasons I stated about an infographic is why I picked it as my remix. On paper #4, I went into why the MLB rule changes were great from a viewership perspective in hopes to draw in new fans. In my infographic I used the same topic but instead dived into the players perspective of the rule changes and how it affected them as players.
