Scotland Is a country that Is part of united Kingdom. The Capital city is Edinburgh Is the ancient city of the Great Britian.
Geography
Scotland (English: Scots Scotland, Scottish: Alba) is a constituent nation of the United Kingdom. Located at the northern end of the island of Great Britain.The territory includes more than 790 smaller islands, including the archipelagos of the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland. Scotland’s waters consist of a large portion of the North Atlantic and the North Sea. Scotland has an area of 78764 km², comparable with the Czech Republic. It extends between the latitudes of Bergen (Norway) to the north and Flensburg (Germany) to the south. The border with England to the south is the only land border, and runs from Gretna Green to the west to Berwick-upon-Tweed to the east. To the north and west it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, to the east by the North Sea.
History
The recorded history of Scotland begins with the arrival of the roman Empire in the 1st century, when the pronvince of Britian reached as far north as the Antonine Wall.
The Gaelic Kindom of Dal Riata was foundend on the west coast of Scotland in the 6st century. In the folliwing century,Irish missionares introduved the previolsly pagan Picts Celti Christian ty. Following England's Gregorian mission the Pictish King Nechtan chose to abolish most Cwltic practices in favour of the Roman rite, restricting Gaelilc in fluence on his Kingdom and avoiding war with Anglian Illorthumoria. Towards the and of the 8th centuty, the viking invasions began, forcing the Picts and Gaels to cease their history hos tility to each other and to unite in the 9th century, forming the kingdom of Scotland.
TOURISM AND THE SPORT OF SCOTLAND
In Scotland there are wild forests covered by fog. The Scottish sport is golf and is considered the national sport.There are extensive ground on sandy coastal dunes,covered with a rich vegetation of particular plants and the solid texture to make this sport perfect. In Scotland the most visited place are Edinburgh,Loch Ness,Glasgow,The isle of Skye and Stonehenge. But there are some places right in Edinburgh,are : The Edinburgh Castel,The Holyroodhouse palace and the National Museums.
SCOTTISH FOOD AND ST ANDREW'S DAY
Is an official public holiday and offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Scottish culture, cuisine and traditional dances. Typical activities on St Andrew’s Day include food, drinks, music and dancing in abundance, with celebrations often lasting late into the night.
On St Andrew’s Day, we eat smoked fish, salmon, cheese, berries and many other things.
