What is Technology Addiction:
Frequent and obsessive technology related behavior despite negative consequences to the user. Both common and relevant in today's society.
Types of Technology Addiction
shopping, net compulsions, video games, social media
SHOPPING:
NET COMPULSIONS
Online shopping leads to making purchases unobserved and secretly
Includes gambling, stock trading, etc. Leads to impulsive decisions.
SOCIAL MEDIA
VIDEO GAMES
Used by almost all of the younger population. Can strongly influence those still in their critical stage of brain development. Can double the risk of mental health complications.

SIGNS OF TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION
FEELINGS OF ISOLATION: When technology takes the place of in-person relationships, it can lead to loneliness and disconnection. Users will ultimately feel harmed and socially isolated. COMPULSION: May lead to obsessive thinking, behavior, and feelings of anxiety when disconnected. ANXIETY: Can feel the pressure of society, fear of missing out, and more from the use of technology and social media.
Constant Checking: May feel the need to constantly check phone without a reasonable need Lack of Time: You may overuse your phone to the point where you lack the time to do things necessary; like schoolwork, actual work, personal and work connections, and more
