WHEN DID ANCIENT HISTORY BEGIN?

Ancient History began with the invention of writing (5.000 years ago). The first ancient civilisations: Some villages grew and formed ancient cities next to the rivers. The invention of writing: The first writing -> in Mesopotamia. It's called cuneiform

Different groups of people lived on the Iberian Peninsula: - The Celts (north and west). - The Iberians (south and east). About 3000 years ago: - The Phoenicians (colonies in the south). - The Greeks (colonies in the north- east). - The Carthaginians (colonies in the east).

WHO LIVED ON THE IBERIAN PENINSULA AT THE START OF ANCIENT HISTORY?

The Romans conquered Spain (Hispania) over 2000 years ago -> Romanisation. Some cities includes Tarraco y Emerita Augusta. The Iberian Peninsula had lots of natural resources. The Romans used these resources.

What was life in Hispania?

Different structures: - Bridges. - Circus. - Triumphal arches. - Theatre. - Aqueducts. - Amphitheatre. Art: - Sculpture. -Relief. - Mural. - Mosaic.

What was roman architecture and art like?

The Roman Empire became very big. It was difficult for the emperors to control. Barbarian invasions: Germanic tribes and the Huns (Asia) invaded it. The Roman Empire ended in 476 AD (the end of Ancient History).
