All narratives are driven by a conflict, or struggle between opposing forces. There are several different types of conflicts that may be in a story.

Plot

Plot is the related sequence of events in a story. Each event in the plot moves the story forward. A plot of a story is broken up into five main parts.

Themes are the central messages, or lessons about life, that the author wants you to take away from the text. The themes of a story are important because they are what you learn from reading a text.
