Milka's history is linked to that of the confectioner Philippe Suchard, who on November 17, 1825 opened his own confectionery in Neuchatel (Switzerland). One of the first products he sold were thin chocolate bars. The following year he expanded his production to a factory in Serrieres, in which he produced between 25 and 30 kilos of chocolate a day. It was not until the 1890s that Philippe's heirs, his daughter Eugene Suchard and Carl Russ-Suchard, began making milk chocolate, a product invented by Daniel Peter fifteen years earlier. Starting on April 24, 1901, the Suchards began selling milk chocolate bars under the name Milka, which are now the best-selling chocolates.

What happened in his life?
In 1825 he founded a chocolate factory in Neuchâtel, which a year later became the Suchard chocolate factory, which he would preside over until 1884, the year in which he bequeathed it to his son. But this chocolate shop was not the only thing that Philippe Suchard made. In 1834, he built the steamship L'Industriel on Lake Neuchâtel, of which he was also the captain, thus giving rise to the Swiss merchant navy.
