The relation between matter and electricity

What is matter ?

Matter is the substance that forms physical bodies. In other words, it is everything that has mass and that occupies a place in space. When we talk about mass we are referring to the matter that a body has, so it is a fundamental magnitude when it comes to understanding and working with matter.

What is electricity ?

Electricity is the set of physical phenomena related to the presence and flow of electrical charges. Electricity is a form of energy that manifests itself with the movement of electrons in the outer layer of atoms on the surface of a conductive material.

what atoms make up electricity?

Electrical energy or electricity is a physical phenomenon that occurs as a result of electrical charges and the interaction between them. In this way, electrons and protons are the main subatomic particles responsible for its appearance.

All matter is made up of atoms, which are made of tiny particles called protons, neutrons and electrons. The proton has a positive charge, the neutron no charge and the electron a negative charge. Electricity comes from the movement of electrons among the atoms of the matter.

Matter can absorb energy. A clear example of this is what happens when we place food in the microwave oven: the water inside the food absorbs the energy of the microwave waves; The energy in the water is transferred to the rest of the food molecules.

Electric current is the flow of electrons through a wire or solution. In a solid the electrons are passed from one positively charged metallic atom to next but in solutions the electron is carried by the ions present in the solutions . A solution capable of carrying charge is called a electrolyte.
