Mini - Project: Climate Change in Madagascar

What is currently being done to help combat or remedy the situation?
How has climate change impacted this area?
USAID's environment and biodiversity program has incorporated climate change mitigation and adaptation practices into environmental activities. They captured more than nine million tons of carbon last year and participated in mangrove restoration activities which can help protect communities from disasters. To relieve pressure on protected areas and reduce social conflict, USAID provides water, seeds, climate-smart agricultural training, and improved land security to established communities and relocated migrants on over 6,000 hectares of land.
Rising temperatures have led to droughts which have left the environment with drier soils and forests. This has directly impacted the people and wildlife. Southern Madagascar has been struggling through a famine due to this. In Northern Madagascar, there has been an increase in typhoons which have been destroying roads and infrastructure. This makes it difficult to send supplies to these regions.

How does this affect the region around it? What effects does it have globally?
Where else in the world is experiencing a similar form of climate change?
Droughts have caused many lives to be taken and migrations to take place. These conditions are due to the climate change happening in these areas. Higher temperatures and lack of rain are the leading cause that prevents agricultural practices. This prevents the production of food for the communities in this area, and can also impact the trade factor globally.
Somalia is also expierencing droughts due to slimate change. Over 43,000 lives were taken due to lack of rain which led to the lack of food. Many families had to migrate to different areas, however they still face similar issues.
