Oscar Wilde

Wilde was an Irish writer born in 1854 in Dublin. His works are famous for his elegant style and his clever humour. He is best known for his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. It's the story of a man who stays young and good-looking for a long time. Meanwhile, a painting of him gets old and shows the bad things he does. The person in the painting turns into a monster which reflects what Dorian Grayreally is. The protagonist obsesses with his portrait and he is very afraid that the people will discover the painting. His writing is significant in Gothicliterature, because it explores the darkness of humanity.
