What I understood
In this article, the author reflects on the process of preparing and delivering a successful TED Talk. The narrative begins with the story of a 12-year-old Masai boy named Richard Turere, who devised a system of lights to protect livestock from lions in Kenya. Despite initial reservations about Richard's ability to give a TED Talk due to his shyness and limited English, the organizers worked with him to frame his story and build his confidence.

Week 8 : Disney
This week, to improve my English, I watched three films in English that I knew by heart to assimilate the words I knew in English. So I watched 3 Disney, "La petite sirène", "Raiponce" and "Le roi lion". I found that thanks to the music, I assimilated the words well and I appreciated being able to watch subtitle in English which allowed me to really understand what the characters were saying. It helped me a lot.
The little Mermaid
Tangled
The Lion King
WEEK 9
“I listen to audio recordings of native speakers speaking these phrases on websites or learning apps in English. I listen carefully to the pronunciation, repeat after them and record myself to compare my pronunciation to theirs. It helps me improve my English pronunciation skills.”
Example sentences : "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" "She sells seashells by the seashore." "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers." "Betty Botter bought some butter, but she said the butter's bitter." "Unique New York, unique New York, unique New York." "Red leather, yellow leather." "Toy boat, toy boat, toy boat." "Six slippery snails slid slowly seaward." "Sally sells sea shells down by the sea shore." "The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick."
Week 10 - CES 2024
I decided this week to look at the different innovations of the CES show, I loved browsing the different videos to discover the novelties! I was able to find a lot of vocabulary related to technology and AI. Such as: Algorithms, machine learning, low or restricted AI / high or general AI, neo-connexionism, augmented reality or virtual reality ...Here is one of the many videos where we are presented some technologies of the show
My favorite technology during my research is the electric stroller! It can be used without hands, empty, and will be able to detect obstacles and dangers on its way in a completely autonomous way, thanks to artificial intelligence. Fully electric, the stroller’s motor allows the 13.6 kg of the device to be towed down the slopes and to brake automatically when descending.
GAME
I think playing Scrabble in English is a great way to learn new words and improve my vocabulary. I seek to discover new words and expressions while looking for combinations of letters to form words on set. With a dictionary with me I find this way to learn very nice and malgres my default to the game!!

WEEK 12 - REDDIT
Reddit offers an incredible variety of content in all sorts of areas, making it a fantastic resource for those who want to learn and be entertained at the same time. Whether it's discussions on current topics, humorous memes, life advice, DIY tutorials, or in-depth analyses on specific subjects, there's something for everyone.
By participating in these discussions, I'm exposed to rich and varied vocabulary, often used in an authentic context. For example, in a subreddit dedicated to photography, I've learned technical terms that I had never encountered before, such as "bokeh" or "aperture", while discovering stunning images.
Digital beings
Variety of subjects
On Reddit, users can interact in real-time, ask questions, and quickly receive feedback. This promotes rapid improvement in language skills through interactive practice and feedback from other users.
Reddit offers a multitude of specialized communities (subreddits) covering various interests, allowing English learners to explore relevant discussions in areas that interest them.
Beyond specialized topics, Reddit also offers language-focused communities where users share their favorite words, expressions, and language learning tips. Participating in these discussions has not only exposed me to a plethora of vocabulary but has also provided valuable insights into language usage and cultural nuances. For example, I recently learned the expression "to have a bee in one's bonnet", which means to be obsessed with an idea or a thought, thanks to a thread on English idioms.
WEEK 13 : Flashcards
Flashcards, or memory cards, are cards used to aid learning by displaying a word, phrase, or image on one side, and its meaning or translation on the other side. They are widely used in language learning to memorize vocabulary and concepts."
Exemple : Verb
Verb: To speak - Translation: Parler Verb: To write - Translation: Écrire Verb: To run - Translation: Courir Verb: To read - Translation: Lire
Verb: To eat -Translation: Manger Verb: To sleep - Translation: Dormir Verb: To study - Translation: Étudier Verb: To dance - Translation: Danser
WEEK 14- Job interview
I had a job interview in English, and I practiced presenting my academic background. I used vocabulary such as 'academic background,' 'educational qualifications,' 'academic achievements,' 'relevant coursework,' and 'extracurricular activities'."
It helped me a lot in developing my speaking skills. Even though it wasn't easy, I did well in presenting the part I had learned. However, answering unprepared questions was more challenging.
Week 15 : Travel Japan
During my week-long vacation in Japan, I found myself immersed in English more than I expected. With much of the local signage and menus in Japanese, English became our main mode of communication. Conversations with both locals and fellow tourists pushed me to express myself more fluently. This experience boosted my confidence and language skills significantly, making my trip more enriching than just a tourist adventure.
During a conversation with a Filipino I met during an excursion, I was surprised to realize how effortlessly I could express myself and use a richer vocabulary, especially in the field of photography. His passion for the subject inspired me and awakened a desire to learn more within me. With a heightened interest in the topic, I noticed that words flowed more easily, allowing me to engage in fluent and natural conversation with him.
Example sentence use - "Could you please recommend a traditional Japanese restaurant nearby?" - "I'm amazed by the efficiency and cleanliness of the public transportation system in Japan. It's so different from what I'm used to back home!"
Week 16 - SMS
This week, I decided to communicate with my family in English through messages. Writing in English forced me to focus more on sentence structure and to choose my words carefully. It also allowed me to practice my vocabulary and grammar in a real and meaningful context. Knowing that there would be no judgment from my loved ones, I felt more comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
Vocabulary learned :
When are you free? How’s it going? I'm not sure about that? Awesome! What time works for you? No worries

WEEK 17 - Academique article
As part of my dissertation, I was able to do academic research to realize the content of my dissertation which focuses on : How can new technologies lead the French Navy to transform its means of communication ? This allowed me to access resources that I would not have had in French and to practice professional English.
WEEK 18 - Harry potter
WEEK -
This week, I decided to watch the Harry Potter saga in English to improve my language comprehension. By watching each film in its original version, I was immersed in a world of varied vocabulary and different accents. I noted new words and expressions while discovering aspects of British culture. At the end of the week, I noticed an improvement in my ability to understand and use English.
I have learned:
"The Boy Who Lived" - "Le garçon qui a survécu" : an expression used to refer to Harry Potter because of his survival against Voldemort's attack when he was a baby. "Mischief Managed" - "Gestion des bêtises" : a phrase used to close the Marauder's Map, but also a way to say "mission accomplished" or "everything is in order." "It's leviOsa, not levioSA" - "C'est leviOsa, pas levioSA" : a pronunciation lesson given by Hermione to Ron, illustrating the importance of tonal accents in English. "Nox" - "Obscurité" : the opposite of the Lumos spell, used to extinguish light.
WEEK 19- TOIEC
This week, I took the TOEIC, a crucial exam to assess my English proficiency. To ensure I was well-prepared, I dedicated the entire week to intensive training. From the outset, I purchased a book specifically designed for TOEIC preparation. This book contained numerous practical exercises, practice tests, and tips to enhance my skills in different sections of the exam, such as reading and listening comprehension. Each day, I immersed myself in exercises, focusing on both reading and listening comprehension. I listened to recordings and answered associated questions, and I also completed numerous reading and text analysis exercises. In the evenings, I took time to review my mistakes and read the explanations provided in the book. This allowed me to better understand my weaknesses and address them more effectively. Thanks to this intensive preparation, I felt more confident and ready to tackle the TOEIC.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this English progress journal has been an extremely valuable resource for me. Thanks to the constant commitment to my training, I have been able to observe significant improvements in my language skills. Documenting my progress has not only helped me stay motivated, but it has also allowed me to see clearly where I stood and where I needed to focus my efforts.
The Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Sensors The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing naval operations by enabling real-time data collection and analysis from various onboard sensors. Brown (2019) highlights that IoT allows predictive maintenance of equipment, thereby improving the availability and reliability of communication systems. Smart sensors integrated into ships continuously monitor environmental and operational conditions, facilitating quick and informed decision-making.
The Impact of Cybersecurity Cybersecurity is a critical domain for naval forces. According to an article by Smith et al. (2021), cyber threats are constantly evolving, requiring robust and secure communication systems. Advanced cryptography technologies and intrusion detection systems are essential to protect sensitive communications from cyberattacks. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to anticipate and counter these threats is a significant innovation for the French Navy.
I would have remembered the emblematic phrase of the saga "May the odds be ever in your favor.", but also the main song of the film : "Are you, are you comin' to the tree? Where they strung up a man, they say, who murdered three Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree Are you, are you comin' to the tree Where dead man called out for his love to flee? Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be If we met at midnight in the hanging tree"
My impressions
I really liked the film, but I had a lot of difficulty understanding the dialogues, there were no subtitles to help me and so I had difficulty staying focused throughout.

- Highlight the importance of practice and feedback.- Wisely choose a test audience for constructive feedback.
- Acknowledge nervousness as natural and normal. -Encourage speakers to embrace their vulnerability, as it can strengthen the connection with the audience.
Satellite Communication and Communication Networks Satellites play a crucial role in naval communications, offering global coverage and reliable connectivity at sea. According to Johnson (2020), the adoption of next-generation satellites enables faster and more secure data transmissions. Moreover, advanced communication networks, such as Software-Defined Networks (SDN), offer increased flexibility and resilience, allowing dynamic management of communication traffic based on operational needs.
I read this book step by step, I make small summarize in order to acquire a new vocabulary but especially annalyse my written comprehension
Summarize :

"Les temps en anglais : apprennez TOUTE la conjugaison anglais "
I decided to start by looking at English grammar for this week, so I watched youtube videos that allowed me to better understand the grammar. I chose to watch a large video rather than several in order to be focused for an hour.
