Reading Assignment 8.2

Physical Geography of Brazil

This section does not have as many questions. You must write out all short response questions and answers in your notebook for "notes" for this reading assignment. You have all of class to complete this!

Did you finish early? Dig deeper with these questions in your notes.

Did you know?

Brazil is the largest country in South America. It has 2.2 million square miles of land! Brazil has 4,665 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline! What impacts does the extended coastline have on Brazil? Why do you think the Amazon River is considered the main river in Brazil? Did you know that 10 countries share a border with Brazil? How would this impact the country as a whole? Compare this to the USA only having two countries border it. How are we impacted differently economically? The majority of Brazil is located by both the equator and the Tropic of Capricorn! This means that most of the regions will experience a hot climate! Does this placement have pros/cons associated with it? Practice your maps skills by opening this link and seeing if you can figure out how many miles are between the capital city of Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro on the map by using the scale.
