To know that young children were even working is heartbreaking. This was the first state to limit children, under age 12 from working more that 10 days in one day.

1833 Slavery Abolition Act

1842 Mass. child labor law

This Act aimed to improve working hours, health and safety, and age restrictions for young workers and apprentices. This was directly for the cotton mills.

This act ended slavery in Britian empire. Which led the pathway for 800,000 slaves including those from Africa and Caribbean.

With rise of industrialization, workers faced harsh conditions, low pay, lack of job security and long hours. Trade unions formed to improve the above. Unions sought solution forming movements.

1831 William Lloyd Garrison

Publishing a weekly paper until end of the civil war, William was passionate against slavery. Gaining popularity as being radical abolitionist.

1807 Slave trade act

Setting minimum wage, Limits on hours 40-hour max and min age of 16 in most industries. Also introducing time and hlaf pay.

Enacted by the British {parliament to abolish the transatlantic slave trade, after much challenge.

First women rights convention calling for women's equality and suffrage.

This amendment prohibits the U.S denying anyone to vote based off sex.

The purpose of this convention was to help treat wounded soldiers in combat.
