The Maoris are the indigenous Polynesian people of mainland New Zealand (Aotearoa)

Māori originated with settlers from East Polynesia (Hawai), who arrived in New Zealand in several waves of canoe voyages between roughly 1320 and 1350.

Their traditions

• The Haka: It's a ritual dance that was performed befoure a battle

• The Hangi: This is a Maori culinary technique involving cooking underground

• Moko: Refers to tribal tattoos, very popular today.
