What To Know About The Pythagorean Theorem

A concept used in construction, navigation, architecture, and surveying heights.

It is seen in every day life through the concept of right triangles. ex: the dimensions of a t.v.

It can even help you find out the distance between two points with only their coordinates.

Using this theorm we will be able to detect the missing side of a right traingle.

Learning The Equation

In a right triangle with sides (Legs) A, B, and hypotenuse C, the theorem states that A² + B² = C². The hypotenuse is the longest side, opposite the right angle.

A² + B² = C²

Lets Begin!

Click within the green box to watch my video on how to solve your very first problem.

Tips & Tricks- Take Notes- A right triangle must always be 90 degrees- The side across from the 90 degree angle is the hypotenuse- The sides touching the right angle (A & B) are called "Legs"

Please solve for C and when you have completed move to the next slide. Here are some possible answers.

Now it's your turn!

I'm Done!

The correct answer is C. C = 15. If you chose A or B, remember your anwser cannot have a radical symbol in it. If you chose D, your math was not correct.

I hope you are doing well! If you feel you need some extra guidance here are some other resources that could help. Just double click on the pink icon(s) below.

For those of you up for a bonus, complete this problem for a bonus point. The aswer will be on the next slide, but you MUST show work.
