Art of Recollection

20-20-20 Rule
Movement

Prescribes going over the details of a presentation for 20 minutes, then repeating the same material twice more. If material is not repeated within 30 minutes, it is not encoded into long-term memory

Exercise increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that is often described as fertilizer for the brain. This gives the brain the ability to absorb, process, and remember information.

Practice Before Sleep
The Rule of 7 (chunking)

Multiple studies show that studying before bedtime is the best for effective recall. It seems the close proximity between acquisition and consolidation of information is what makes this so efficient

At any given time, the working memory can hold about 7 bits of information, give or take.

Test Yourself
Rehearsal Enviornment

The testing effect suggests long-term memory is increased when part of the learning period is devoted to retrieving information from memory.

Rehearse at different times of the day, with different noise levels, temperatures, rooms, etc.
