POSITION
The Amazon Forest is located in South America and it crosses nine countries: Brasil Venezuela Guiana Suriname French Guiana Bolivia Peru Ecuador It is crossed by the Amazon River (the longest river in the world) and it covers an area of 6.7 million km².
Green lung: "Polmone verde" Unesco heritage site: Patrimonio dell'umanità Unesco
ENVIRONMENT
The Amazon Rainforest is known as the green lung of the Earth, because it has many trees that provide oxygen to the entire planet, and it conditions the climate of the Earth! It has been declared a UNESCO heritage site in the year 2000 and it's the biggest rainforest in the entire world! Like all rainforests, it is very rich in flora and fauna and has a lot of biodiversity, with many species of animals yet to be discovered...
ANIMALS
About 70% of the animals and the plants of the world are in the Amazon Rainforest! Some examples of animals in the Amazon Rainforest are: the toucan, the parrot, the jaguar, the sloth, the butterfly, the crocodile and other insects.

POLLUTION AND FUTURE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The Amazon Forest is really important for the planet, but it is in danger because of a big problem: deforestation. Deforestation is widespread in South America: the trees of this rainforest are burned or cut to make room for coltivations or animals. If we don't stop deforestation now, we'll have less oxygen, the forest will absorb less Co2, and global warming will increase significantly, causing the melting of glaciers and the rising of sea level. Furthermore, the Brazilian government does not help: the forest rangers are not enough to stop deforestation: they need reinforcements! So, the deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest will be a big problem for the entire world!
