Change Management: Why?

In the past, Accelalpha did ‘Training’ to enable clients to adopt the implemented solution. Most clients would take up change management using their own team or external change management experts.

After APEX in place, we can:

Speed up acceptance and adoption of a solution
Offer CM as a value added service
Collaborate for a successful transition

Change Management: Before you start

You have successfully completed the seven phases of the APEX Project Management methodology. Change management (CM) activities run parallel with the project management activities. Before, we dive deep, let's have a look at three aspects of CM that get deeply impacted by CM.

Change Management Activities: Overview

Change management is not a one-time activity. It starts very early on in the project. Throughout the different phases of a project, various activities are planned and executed in collaboration with the actual project work. Also, there could be an overlap of activities within CM.

Change Management Planing & Assessment
Training Planning & Execution
Stakeholder Assesment & Engagement

Roles & Responsiblities

Not everyone will be comfortable with the change. You'll have to create awareness on the following:

  • Which roles are getting impacted?
  • What are the new roles, work content, and job descriptions?
  • What are the skills needed for new roles?

Processes

Some projects impact only a department, whereas some impact more than one department. For example, if there is a change in order management, then it might impact customer services, warehouse, or production. You need to look at the bigger picture. Ask:

  • How does the change in one process impact other processes?

  • How compliant are the process(s) with quality and security requirements?
  • How are the processes in sync with the roles and responsibilities?
People/Stakeholders

People are the most important and dynamic aspect of change management (CM) processes. Here are some important questions to ask when dealing with people/stakeholders and plan accordingly:

  • Who are the people/stakeholders getting impacted?
  • How aware are they of the changes happening?
  • Are they champions or disruptors? And if so, what is the strategy to handle them?
  • Which teams/users will need training?
