It should be set in units you can measure so you can track your progress
It should be challenging, but not impossible
It should be designed to help you grow in a way that supports your fitness
Should have a deadline so you have an established timeframe to meet it
Your goal should never be fuzzy. It should be specific so you can be certain you will acheive it.
Relevant Examples
Non-example- I want to gain 10% muscle mass to help me dance
Example-I want to improve my muscular endurance to help me dance
Measureable Examples
Non-example- I want to jump higher!
Example-I want to increase my vertical jump by 2 inches.
Attainable Examples
Non-example- I want to increase my strength by 200% by tomorrow
Example-I want to increase my strength by 50% by the end of the month.
Specific Examples
Non-example- I want to be faster!
Example-I want to be able to run the 100-meter dash in 13 seconds
Time-based Examples
Non-example- I want to be able to do 50 push-ups in a row someday
Example-I want to be able to do 50 push-ups in a row by my birthday
