This tool shows the steps to take where you identify a possible need for a safeguarding or early help referral (in Scotland this is known as a "named person discussion"). Select the most appropriate option below to get started. Note: process queries should be raised in #safeguarding in Slack.

Reviews the request for support and allocates to safeguarding team member. The allocated safeguarding officer will make contact with you to arrange a discussion. Contact will be made on the same day the request is received, unless out of hours.
You will...
...complete the Safeguarding Notification form (support request) This is received by the duty safeguarding worker into the safeguarding inbox. This must be completed for:
- Any safeguarding concern/high risk case, even if support is not needed. This ensures the safeguarding team has a log of concerns to then let local contracts know/follow up on outcomes.
- Risk of suicide cases.

Collaborative discussion
Collaborative discussion takes place between you and the safeguarding team to agree what actions are required and who will complete them.
The safeguarding team will be able to support with the "doing", where appropriate.
The team ask that you should always be involved in the completion of the referral with support from the team, when needed.
The team will share a summary of the agreed actions with you and your team lead and will add this to Panacea.

...the team will monitor all cases received via the Safeguarding Notification form. These forms populate the safeguarding log and are monitored closely. High risk cases will be flagged and additional monitoring will take place. The local contract will also be kept updated about these cases.
