Information

Zurich is the largest city in the Swiss Confederation, with a population of 400,000 and despite not being the capital of the country, it can be considered the most important city. It is the capital of the canton of Zurich and is located in the central plain of Switzerland and close to the Alps. It is the financial engine of the country, with various multinational companies having their world headquarters there. Zurich is considered the most expensive city in the world, but it is also at the top of the cities with the highest quality of life; not only for its economy, but also for its innovation, nature, transportation, efficiency, culture, art, health and safety.

Food

Swiss cuisine combines the influences of German, French and northern Italian cuisine. Many dishes, however, have already crossed local borders, becoming very popular throughout Switzerland. Among them, we can highlight the dishes made with cheese or potatoes. Some typical dishes are cheese fondue, raclette, rösti or cheese only. On the other hand, Switzerland is a country famous for its chocolate, having some of the largest factories and companies in Europe, which we can see in the menu of its population.

Zurich's climate is moderately continental, with cold winters and fairly hot summers. Winter is cold and gray with heavy snowfall. With very low temperatures between -2 and 10 ºC, although sometimes there can be cold waves, in which temperatures can drop to -15 °C or even lower. In summer, temperatures are generally pleasant and lend themselves to outdoor activities, although rain and thunderstorms can sometimes occur. Precipitation is quite abundant. In the least rainy months (January, February) they rise to 60 mm, in the rainiest months (May, July) they rise to 130 mm.
