Why are Medication costs so High for people?

Drug makers set the tone for the healthcare industry. Their years of research and investments in the drugs can be expensive.

Insurance companies limit what medications they will cover, if patients are eligible for the medications, based off patient medical records, and if there are any generic medications available at at a lower cost.

Nearly 2 billion people globally have no access to essential medicines. This means essential medicines are unavailable, unaffordable, inaccessible, unacceptable, or of low quality for more than a quarter of the population worldwide (Ozawa et al, 2019).
