Engine Health Monitoring
Modern engines are becoming more and more complex, making engine management an increasingly challenging task. Lufthansa Technik has developed a digital solution to help turbine engine operators navigate this complexity. It is based on a digital twin of the engine, which enables the system to process a wide variety of data parameters and monitor entirely new engine parts. This approach has already proven to detect flaws that were previously missed by conventional engine condition monitoring. We have developed a web-based application that combines and analyses various datasets, such as engine performance and many more. It enables experts to detect wear and tear at an early stage by means of optimally adapted alarm rules. If required, experienced Lufthansa Technik engineers can assist in interpreting the data and selecting troubleshooting measures. A very special feature: The alert rules can be adapted to the operational conditions of our customers. Thanks to our in-house development capabilities, we can integrate our maintenance experience to further optimize the solution.

With the floor extending from the front fuselage area to form a veranda and having the projection surfaces for virtual content integrated on a large scale in the cabin design, the BRABUS Adventure Lounge perfectly rounds out our concept for world explorers.
Explore the world – anywhere, at any time
EXPLORER
Interior
Ceiling projection
The EXPLORER design concept is based on the trend for superyachts. Interior elements are kept multifunctional. In addition to classic elements such as private bedrooms, bathrooms and conference areas, we have also developed a variety of new ideas for your mission briefings, dining and fitness – even a dance floor and SPA area.
By integrating the unique ceiling projection system of Diehl Aerospace, we have created a breathtaking interior that exploits the technology’s full potential for a VIP cabin. The system covers huge areas of the ceiling and sidewalls, where it brings an endless variety of virtual worlds to life.

At a height of around four meters, you have a unique view. The main deck’s cargo hatch opens up the interior to its surroundings, in which you can then immerse yourself directly via a platform that can be extended by several meters.
For the rear part of the lower deck, a special adventure lounge has been designed, which can be viewed from the main deck through a glass floor. Vehicles can be stored here for discovery tours after landing. Passengers can easily access their new BRABUS 1300R models from the main deck via a convenient staircase.

Floorplan
Our floorplan options can be adapted to any need. For the Airbus Corporate Jet ACJ330, we chose a classic wide-body aircraft. It offers sufficient space for a large number of new cabin ideas. The layout can easily be transferred into any other wide-body aircraft, like an Airbus A350, the Boeing 787 or 777 and more.
Modernism meets Confucianism
Nature’s Touch
Our design concept “Nature’s Touch” combines the cultures of East and West.
- Many traditional Chinese colors have been used such as creamy, moonlight beige, combing with bamboo green and jade, as well as crimson.
- Textile, subtle stripes simulating bamboo wood grain are complemented by natural materials such as marble, genuine leather, wool and silk.
- The exuberant diversification of colors and textures expresses the vitality of nature.
Nature’s Touch was awarded with the Red Dot 2019 for its high-quality design work.

Human-oriented smart technology
Largest OLED roll-up screen
All interfaces are integrated into the cabin environment. An absolute technical innovation is the installation of the roll-up/down screen technology in the cinema, as well as voice and gesture recognition for the cabin management (CMS) and inflight entertainment (IFE) systems.
The cabin displays show data from the music and entertainment servers and visualize the mood of the music. A cinema room finishes the entertainment package with today’s largest screen (75”) in a narrow-body, including ambient lights and an all-new louvered ceiling concept.
Flying barefoot in the mind
SkyRetreat
SkyRetreat translates the travel experience of a luxury yacht to the clouds. The interior concept was exclusively designed for the Airbus A220.
- We reduced the cabin interior elements to a minimum, contributing to a calm and restful travel experience.
- Wooden decking and a spacious design create an atmosphere of pure relaxation.
- The cabin space is divided into three zones: a variable utility area at the rear, a spacious and open lounge and our revolutionary observation deck at the front.

Open lounge
For SkyRetreat, we created an observation deck that breaks down the barrier between pilot and passenger. Relax in an enlarged cockpit and enjoy the unbelievable view.
The nature-inspired design is dominated by the distinctive wooden flooring and the upper cabin section. State-of-the-art equipment such as 4K displays, smart touch surfaces, mood lighting and the latest connectivity solutions are always within easy reach.
The centerpiece of the cabin offers a versatile interior space. Whether with a group of friends, relaxing or even sleeping or with family, the cabin is designed to be used without restrictions.
A new era of private jet travel
Mercedes-Benz Style
Lufthansa Technik and Mercedes-Benz Style have joined forces to create a stunning futuristic interior approach, opening up a whole new dimension of private air travel. Under the joint approach of both companies, the traditional separation of ceiling, wall and floor has been entirely replaced by a dynamic layout. The interior of the cabin is now organic and homogeneous, like a DNA helix. Floor, wall and ceiling flow into each other. Featuring numerous innovative details, the furniture with its sensuous clarity of design merges seamlessly with the cabin interior.

Design meets technology
Where entertainment wishes take center stage
Black panels inspired by the typical dashboard design in Mercedes-Benz S-Class and AMG cars seem to float in front of the window, an effect generated by the subtle light corona. Innovative Mercedes-Benz Magic Sky technology allows the panels to be dimmed electrically from black to transparent.
Within seconds, the cabin can be transformed into a flying concert hall or movie theater. The elegant technology setup makes it possible to play music or watch movies on an ultra-high-definition screen – and control both via smartphone or tablet. And of course, passengers can access the internet just the way they do at home.

Design study for the A350
Welcome Home
Our design concept for the Airbus A350-900 emphasizes a comprehensive approach to health and well-being onboard. Taking into account the often extremely tense lifestyles of VIP passengers, “Welcome Home” allows travelers to arrive at their destination feeling more relaxed and refreshed than when they started their journey. It promotes flexible areas for privacy or valuable family time and provides super connectivity for all communication channels.

Welcome Home
Travel time becomes quality time
Let your light shine
Located in the most favorable area as regards noise and aircraft movement, the front part of the aircraft, the Family Flex Area, is a large and airy private space comparable to an expensive hotel suite. An office within this area focuses on private conversations or interactive video conferencing, allowing the VIP to place themselves in the midst of their staff whenever required.
The guest lounge entertains with a cinema-size screen and offers a new lighting approach. In Lufthansa Technik’s patented Living Lining concept, the ceilings and walls themselves turn into lighting elements. Imitations of clouds can be depicted, even animated, and aside from the presets, any personalized lighting requirement is possible.

Welcome Home
A new sense of well-being
Fine dining above the clouds
In the aft of the cabin, a large spa area has been introduced, which welcomes guests with a humidifying water feature and otherwise offers a relaxing steam bath, a massage shower and a massage table that may also double as a passenger transport unit (PTU) if so required. Top sound quality and personalized lighting let guests immerse themselves fully in deeply relaxing surroundings.
A freshly prepared meal after the steam bath? No problem, because the cabin also has an aviation-approved live cooking area. It also includes a power supply, an exhaust fan and a special cover that ensures that pots and pans stay in place even during turbulence.
High demand for luxury
CelestialSTAR
The latest VVIP cabin concept for the BBJ 777-9 features a spacious interior of more than 340 square meters and is designed specifically for the new generation of VVIP and head-of-state aircraft. CelestialSTAR is aimed at emphasizing the contemporary purity and geometric design patterns typical of the Middle East, as well as the vastness and openness of the sky: a reminder not only of the widest cabin of all newly available VVIP aircraft types, but also of the diversity of the Middle Eastern philosophy.
- Combination of traditional Middle Eastern cultural and modern elements
- Cocoon-like private bedroom and bathroom
- Features a work and balance area, turning into a multifunctional private suite
High demand for luxury
CelestialSTAR
Cocooning into an entertainment center
Generous entourage area
High-class ambience in the Celestial lounge
Projection technology transforms the enclosed cocoon into an immersive wellness and entertainment world. Rotating and sliding lamellae can open the cocoon to the rest of the cabin. The work and balance area adjoining the cocoon also makes full use of the cabin width. In the two flexibly rotating and sliding seats, guests can gather around the large VVIP desk for audiences and turn and move their seats.
The second half of the cabin offers generous accommodation. High-ranking guests can be welcomed in the six deluxe suites. For additional passengers, there are also 32 seats in the executive area, which corresponds to state-of-the-art business-class seating. This is followed at the rear of the cabin by the entourage area.
Through the Celestial lounge, passengers can enter the aircraft like through a lobby. With an integrated bar and seating arrangements, it ensures the perfect first impression. Intermediate doors shield guests aesthetically and acoustically from the outer functional doors of the aircraft cabin. When the corridors are open, the Celestial lounge merges almost seamlessly into the adjoining conference and dining area.

A321 for the German Air Force
The German Air Force has ordered two A321 LR aircraft, the successors to the A310 MRTT used for many years to date, as transport aircraft with a MedEvac configuration. The A321 LR will have six PTU NG and 16 litter rack positions, plus seats.
Wide-body MedEvac layout
During the COVID pandemic, we received several requests for high-capacity patient-transport aircraft. Based on typical wide-body aircraft concepts, different types of litter racks have been developed to transport approximately 40 stretcher patients, all dependent on oxygen.
Ebola aircraft A340
At the height of the ebola epidemic of 2014, Lufthansa Technik was commissioned by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office to convert an Airbus A340 into an evacuation aircraft for transportation and treatment.

Litter racks
Patient Transport Unit
Litter racks are ideal in situations where many medium-care patients need to be airlifted. They are more space-efficient than the PTU, while also providing a low to medium level of care. Depending on the cabin geometry, up to three patients can be stacked on the footprint of one stretcher. Litter racks are also seat track mounted. There are four general variants to choose from:
- Basic care – Maximum stacking to create as many lie-flat bed positions as possible
- Intermediate care – The basic care variant, with additional oxygen supply
- Advanced care – One or two patients per position, with oxygen, health monitoring and emergency ventilation. The extra height allows better patient observation and easier intervention
- Isolated care – Combined with EpiShuttle or similar for single-patient self-contained transport
The Patient Transport Unit Next Generation (PTU NG) represents the optimum solution for transporting patients requiring intensive medical care. It meets the requirements of today’s medical devices, the relevant medical norms and the as well as aviation safety requirements. Moreover, it fulfills the relevant NATO standards. In particular, the PTU NG allows:
- The necessary medical positioning of the patient combined with the restraint needed for flight safety
- The arrangement and retainment of medical devices, e.g., monitors, ventilation, infusion systems
- The supply of medical oxygen and electricity for such devices
- Storage of medical appliances

GuideU
GuideU adapts to everything
Our CustomFit technology integrates the structure and design of the chosen carpet into the surface of the strip, making it almost invisible under normal lighting conditions.
GuideU is available in a wide range of colors, so it blends smoothly into your existing cabin design.
Our ColorCurve technology follows the particular contours of your cabin, creating a truly unique and unmistakable look.
Our GuideU Curved CustomFit strips perfectly blend with the surrounding carpet both in form, color and structure, thus meeting even the highest design standards.
Fillers in various heights make it possible to adapt the light-strip assembly height to different carpets.
An optional carpet protector can be used to protect the carpet edges against damage.
More capacity for your A320
High-Density Configurations
More passengers mean more revenue per flight. That’s why many airlines enlarge the seat capacities of their A320 fleet up to 186 seats. Lufthansa Technik has developed some dedicated solutions that save space and weight – without compromising on passenger comfort or safety needs.
Bigger door
New aft bulkhead solution
Direct View Camera System
Center Ceiling Stowage+ (CCS+)
HiPer Slide
Another simple solution for more stowage space is enlarged doors for the overhead bins. This retrofit design increases the overhead luggage capacity from three to five trolley suitcases.
Our compact and flexible aft bulkhead provides a maximum of stowage options in the aft galley, in combination with a double lavatory. Depending on the configuration a customer chooses, the aft galley provides space for six additional seats, up to eight half-size trolleys or 19 standard containers. The unit can also accommodate beverage makers, ovens and USB charging points.
With the Direct View Camera System (DVCS), flight attendants can see the entire cabin. The forward-facing flight attendant seat (CAS) is no longer necessary. This reduces weight, fuel consumption and work, because the CAS is maintenance-sensitive. The DVCS also improves safety with a night-vision function that ensures an overview of the cabin even in the dark.
More passengers also mean more hand luggage – which often leads to costly boarding delays due to limited space. Center Ceiling Stowage+(CCS+) allows airlines to gain additional storage space in the cabin. Inside the CCS+ module, airlines can store less-frequently used equipment such as life rafts, baby bassinets, emergency equipment and crew luggage.
Even with a higher number of seats, it must be possible to evacuate the entire aircraft within 90 seconds. We developed single-lane slides that are 80 kilograms lighter than the usual dual-lane emergency slides.
Repair cabin interiors rather than replace
SkySHINE
A scratch in the paintwork, scuffed leather on the seat, marks on high-quality components – minor optical imperfections diminish the overall impression passengers have of their flight experience, especially in premium classes. Repairing these flaws typically means replacing the damaged components, which is often time-consuming and expensive. With SkySHINE, Lufthansa Technik offers a quick and cost-saving approach to refurbishing a damaged cabin interior. With a special color pistol, our mechanics add a coating to the damaged areas, making worn-out components look brand new. This simple yet innovative process means offering a mobile repair service that can be done as part of daily maintenance operations – even during short layovers.
Benefits
Easy extension of the lifetime of interior parts No need for costly dismantling and replacing 16 million colors to choose from Fast and simple color matching based on customer samples Rapid drying time Odor-free application by airbrush Eco-friendly water-based paint Normal line-maintenance ground times can be exploited
Pure water quality above the clouds
PuriFLY
Drinking-water filters on aircraft currently use activated carbon. This neutralizes the chlorine in the tap water and purifies the water itself. These filters need to be changed and cleaned regularly. Unlike these conventional filter systems, PuriFLY uses a second filtration stage in addition to the activated carbon. It consists of a hollow-fiber membrane with extremely small pore diameters. This retains all particles larger than 0.2 µm and reliably removes 99.99999% of all waterborne micro-organisms.
Highest medical standard
PuriFLY complies with the international ASTM F838-20 standard for medical sterilization filters and exceeds the highest level of filtration, log 7.
Easy retrofit
PuriFLY is easy to install in all common aircraft types: an upgrade consists of replacing the filter cartridge and updating the documentation.
Longer lifetime
PuriFLY’s service life is three times longer than a conventional filter’s, resulting in fewer replacement intervals, less material consumption and lower costs.
99.99999%

Underfloor heating for aircraft
HeatNOW
At cruising altitude, the door and galley areas are often affected by extremely low temperatures down to -50 °C. These cold spots cause discomfort for crew members and can even lead to moisture hindering doors from opening normally under icy conditions. Many aircraft operators use heating elements with resistance wires to ensure comfort and functionality in this area. But these resistance wires are rather sensitive, and exchange of defective elements is an expensive affair – and often even impossible. As a solution to all these issues, we developed HeatNOW: a heating pad providing cozy temperatures and high technical reliability. The solution consists of a heating layer and two additional layers for protection. It can be connected to the current supply of the aircraft and thus be regulated at different temperature levels.
Benefits
High robustness ensured by two protection layers Ultra-thin with a total thickness of <2 mm Ultra-lightweight heating layer <150 g/m² Less expensive than common heating solutions Quick installation at customized positions Suitable for all aircraft types Easy to maintain
Colors and signs for aircraft
Graphics
3D Logos
Foils are an attractive alternative to time-consuming cabin makeovers or liveries on fuselage, tail and even wings. Lufthansa Technik offers a complete range of graphic services for almost every type of passenger or freighter aircraft. Whether you are looking for aircraft foiling on the outside, exterior technical markings, interior placards or signs in the cabin, there are practically no limits to the designs and color schemes that can be executed.
Interior Placards
Painting Stencils
The perfect match for sophisticated interior decor is our 3D-technology for logos, letters, or other graphic elements. These logos are available in color but can also imitate the look of wood, marble, or other patterns.
We create placards and décor foils to fit in any interior design. With our special printing technologies, we can create elegant finishes in silver, gold or champagne and print on all kind of surfaces.

Update for the “Black Box”
Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorder
Lufthansa Technik and HENSOLDT have jointly developed a new generation of recording devices for the Airbus A320 family. These are far more powerful than previous cockpit voice and flight data recorders (CVR/FDR). This means that aircraft operators are well prepared for the new regulatory requirements in the United States, which mandate longer storage of flight data. Another advantage of the new system is that the recorders can remain permanently installed in the aircraft while the data is being read out. This is made possible by a special on-wing readout kit, whose software can be installed on any standard laptop. Especially in times of limited maintenance capacity or shortages of replacement recorders, this smart solution can significantly reduce maintenance costs.

EXPLORER
In collaboration with world-renowned luxury mobility brand BRABUS, Lufthansa Technik designed an exclusive extension of its new wide-body VIP cabin concept EXPLORER. With the floor extending from the front fuselage area to form a veranda and having the projection surfaces for virtual content integrated on a large scale in the cabin design, the BRABUS Adventure Lounge perfectly rounds out our concept for world explorers.

High demand for luxury

Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem
The Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem is formed by Swiss Aviation Software AMOS, AVIATAR and flydocs. It enables comprehensive data coverage along the entire value stream in technical operations. This data, combined with the digital know-how of all three independent solution providers as well as Lufthansa Technik’s engineering and MRO expertise, will result in completely new offerings, accelerated digitalization and added value for customers. As a result, the ecosystem reduces the cost of technical operations, enhances process efficiency, increases operational stability as well as aircraft availability and optimizes asset value throughout the entire life and lease cycles.
The ecosystem has five principles that will benefit the customers:
Open: Collaborative and connectable with the digital solutions of customers, partners and standard interfaces. Modular: Customers and partners can choose individual, feasible features of the product portfolio. Neutral: The Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem enables customers to stay independent of OEMs and MROs. Secure: Ownership of the data stays with the operator and builds on secure interfaces to grant customers and partners full control of their data. Seamless: The ecosystem ensures a consistent workflow and data access across solutions.

The Patient Transport Unit Next Generation (PTU NG) represents the optimum solution for transporting patients requiring intensive medical care. It meets the requirements of today’s medical devices, the relevant medical norms and the as well as aviation safety requirements. Moreover, it fulfills the relevant NATO standards.
