Extract : They passed different groups of people hurrying in different directions. As they jostled their way through a crowd of confused Hufflepuffs, Harry suddenly grabbed Ron's arm. 'I've just thought-Hermione' 'What about her' 'She doesn't know about the troll' Ron bit his lip. 'Oh, all Right', he snapped 'But Percy'd better not see us' Ducking down, they joined the Hufflepuffs going the other way, sipped down a deserted side corridor and hurried off towards the girls toilet.

Conclusion

The Extract

I chose this extract because It’s a very representative example of friendship, notably with the start of Harry, Ron and Hermione Friendship. We can see that even with an important danger, Harry and Ron decide to help Hermione, and that proof of loyalty is an important part of friendship. Moreover, this friendship start with a breath-taking action scene, as well as in the other document that I chose.

The Extract

I decided to present you the final scene because it is a breath-taking example of friendship. One essential element of this extract is the fact they give hands together, showing their agreement. We can see with the final suicide decision they made together that they are really in a fusional friendship. Unlike the next document, we can see that both characters are in complete agreement.

The Lord of the Ring

TThe 2nd document I chose is the Lord of The Ring. The movie, inspired by the 1954 book written by Tolkien, is part of the fantastic genre released in 2001. The story presents the adventures of Frodo, an hobbit, who must destroy the unique ring to keep it away from Sauron. As for the first document, the background of the story is precise and detailed, making it even more realistic, but, if you’re not interested in it, like me, you will find the book to dense and complicated to read. .

Thelma and Louise

My third document is the movie Thelma and Louise. This road movie, released in 1991, count the mare of Thelma and Louise after having killed a man that try to rape Thelma. I do not like particularly the movie, because I don’t like action movies, but I decided to present you the final scene because it is a breath-taking example of friendship. .

The Extract

I chose to present a video extract of the film, because it represents well help between friends during tough times. We can see in this extract Gandalf risking his life to protect his friends, including Frodo who want to stop him. The fact that friendship is even stronger during hard times is also present in the third document.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers stone is a fantasy book written by J.K Rowling in 1997 and became quickly one of the most famous books of all time. The story counts us the adventure of Harry Potter, a young boy that would discover at his 10th birthday that he is a wizard. Then, he discovers the amazing wizarding world and the legendary Hogwarts magic school. I particularly like this document, because since you start the story, you dive in a uniquely detailed universe, that is really impressive.

Conclusion

With all the extracts we saw, we can now answer the key question, which is What does friendship tell us about the world we live on? We saw with harry potter and The Lord of the ring that in even violent and complicated situation that we could live now, friendship is even stronger. Then with Thelma and Louise, we saw that their friendship could be nice and happy but contains also hard parts such as arguments. Finally, we saw with the mysterious benedict society that friendship is not a simple thing and can evolve in diverse ways. To put in a nutshell, we discovered that English speaking culture present several forms of friendship, allowing each one to create his own definition.

Sherlock Holmes

My first personal document is an extract from the investigation tv series “Sherlock,” broadcast in 2010, and inspired by the famous Arthur Connan Doyle series of book, Sherlock Holmes. The story consists of Sherlock Holmes, a private detective, and his friend Watson solving cases. I particularly like the series of book because each story is different, and the final twist is every time unpredictable

The Extract

I chose this extract from the tv series because it represents an important part of every friendship which is not present in the other documents, arguments. This extract shows us also how much Sherlock is attached to Watson. The final document also represents a sort of attachment but slightly different.

The mysterious Benedict society

My last, but not least personal document is an extract from the book series “The mysterious Benedict Society.” This Young Adult Book series was written in 2007 by Trenton Lee Stewart. The book counts us the story of four atypic and alone children who were selected to take part in a mysterious society organised by a certain mister Benedict. They would have to investigate together in a strange school. I particularly like this book because I like investigation books and in particular those who are original.
